Hi
This is my hurri 550.
Below are the specs
Motor : Align 600L
ESC : Align 75A ESC
Battery : LiFe 8s
Cyclic servo : Futaba S9451
Rudder system : Futaba 401 + 9254
Main rotor : SWE 550D
I'm fully satisfied with this sweet machine except too short flying time caused from little bit heavy weight.
So I'm considering to replace the motor with another lighter and more efficient one to lose a weight and prolong the flying time.
Is anybody giving advice?

nice looking heli.. you might want to look at the Z30-1110 as an replacement motor.. or possibly the scorpion 3026-1200

Hi.
How about scorpion 3026-1400kv?
Once I replace with 1200kv motor. I'm afraid of get HS to be too lower since the teeth of front grear is 61T to match the KV of 600L (1600kv).
Hopefully I'm expecting the scorpion will work better obviously.
Thanks.

if you get a close equivalent of the motor your running kv wise your not gaining much,,,if anything.the align motors aren't bad motors but they are designed for the 600's and will suck your battery.getting something with a similar kv's just going to replicate that.get your self a 50 and 42 tooth and 13 to 15 tht pinions with your new motor and have a play

Hi,
I am very happy with my Z-20 1470KV on 8S A1123.
I get 5'30 intensive sport flying at 1850RPM with 500mm woodies blades.
My gears are : 13/60/19/61.
Sonny.

Hi
Thanks guys.
Your advices are very helpful to me.
Actually for now I'm practicing some 3D flight movement.
I feel all the time I fly my machine with side tic-toc the HS is reduced very rapidly.
Does scorpion and Z20 afford this kind of movement to keep the HS from A123 battery?
Actually I'm not sure what equipment I should replace is battery or motor.
Losing a weight by replicement of motor will work for sure but the motor for 500 grade heli might not supply the performance that I expected for this 550 grade heli.
Thanks.

yeah if you're interested in 3d it may be time to upgrade to a z30 and a 6s lipo battery... you'll have all the power you need then :)

getting around to posting some pics of my "project". I think I started building her back in August and completed assembly around the first week of December. Life has been hectic since then and I'm still trying to tweak the Spartan to get rid of a pesky tail wag. I really love the stability of this bird, though it's still an eye opener when 4' of rotor starts to spool up. I did a lot of reading on the Hurri and I certainly appreciate all of the info you guys have posted here. It's a unique hybrid, but I'm proud of it...

Kasama Raptor 30/50 tail with Quick UK Raptor 50 tail boom (shortened...also have to ream the boom clamps for this mod)

well I hid the 550 mechanics inside the Hughes 500E fuse worked out well if I may say so myself! :)
Does it still count as a hurricane ?? :)
Nice set up, especially the lights in the skids. What brand of fuse is it?

After a couple of weeks of work my hurri is nearly ready to fly - just waiting for the batteries to turn up (2 x Zippy 3300mAh). In the end I couldn't face painting the canopy given my previous experiences of completely mucking things up - so I decided on the 'stickers on white' easy option. I'm hoping that when powered up this heli doesn't scare me too much.....
Spektrum AR7100, Futaba GY502 converted to GY601 gyro, SportsBEC, Castle Creations 80A ESC, 3 x Futaba S3050, Futaba S9254 tail servo mounted on boom, Z20A motor.

Here's my Kyosho Jetranger body kit with Hurricane 550 mechanics
Funny noises coming out of it occasionally. Belt may not be tight enough; swashplate bearing making noise- i think.

nice looking bird there! if it's a squealing noise then you may want to check the bearing above the one-way
