Hmmm, a little something different, kinda like the concept of the skids on a Gazaur Mars 480 huh.

nice hacker turbine ya got there... that's the same motor that Art Hughes has stuffed in his hurri... he did have to add spacers to move the pitch and roll arms out to get it to fit though...when I talked to him at B'ham he was running around a 2200-2300 rpm head speed..but planned on pushing it as high as he could before the gears went...then back it off a couple hundred...

What type of main blades are those white ones?
are the glass fiber, carbon or what?
I've seen some cheap 500 or 515 or 550 CF white blades around but wondered if they were any good.
Kind regards

Can you tell us what are your flying time, flying style, HS, with 8S A123 and this BIG motor !
Thanks !
rmccomb
04-09-2009, 05:54 PM
Actually 7s a123
so flight times are gonna suffer
I dont mind that any though
Gonna update my signature to reflect 7s I guess
The 8s may go with the long boom and cnc tail
just dont want all the weight.

And what performances with your scorpion motor ? (HS, flying time, ...)

Sonn,
am a newbie... 6 mos and 3 of it building
With the scorp motor 7s the calc showed a hs of 2150 though it seamed to lack the pop the stock motor had
850kv vs 880kv? same 15t stock gearing?
Mild ff and hovering about and such probably ok
Really think the 3026 is too small for this bird for 3D
probably good for mild flying and long flight times
(my unsponsered, HF educated opinion)
have not flown second bird yet hoping 8s helps it out
waiting for bearings for the scorp motor
(if it goes through another set of bearings after 3 flight its bye bye)
the mesh was perfect?
Head speed?
No tach yet (go go gaui headspeed calculator)
flight times are longer than it takes for my thumbs to start shaking
still trying to figure this one out... (figures since I got the heli almost sorted it would be something else LOL)
Oh and
rounds wizzing by...
gaffing utility poles to 40 ft...
skydiving...
no shakes
???wtf
Going to the San Diego Fun-fly here next month :woohoo
am hoping someone with more experience would be kind enough to tach it and maybe even fly it. (fingers crossed) but hey I'll be there with 3 GAUIs ... So I'm representin LOL
Emailed Ray today asking what I need to fly them there.
Local lhs is no help and no one within a hundred miles is flying helis. :(
so HF it is:thumbup:

the 3026 is fine for this heli... you just need one that is bigger than 880kv... 1210kv would get you the pop you're looking for... that's if you stayed with teh scorpions..the 4025 can be used on teh CHP frame... or on teh Gaui frame IF you add spacers to move the pitch and roll arms out.. as far as teh bearings... heard that some of teh motors had bearing failures out of the box.. one thing I really don't like about teh scorpion motors is the need to grind a flat spot... that should be done by the factory.. not me..
of course unless you're at a point in your flying that you NEED the pop for 3D... why worry about it.. just get out there and FLY... mine has mild pop... not bad.. but nothing like a 8s 4020 on a 600 sized heli... but I don't need that pop... I take off.. I fly.. I do loops.. rolls.. flips... stall turns.. and land after 4:30 seconds... nothing to it..and it's fun...
the shakes... ahhh... yes... I had those... still have a little bit of the shakes when trying stuff lower to the ground.. with skydiving or pole climbing.. you're exerting yourself and that expends some of teh adrenaline... standing there and watching gives no outlet for teh adrenaline so you shake... at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it... think back to the first time you stepped out of a plane... remember the adrenaline high you had that seemed to last forever... same thing.. just no where for it to go...

Has anyone boosted the motor specs a little in the sim parameters?
My 2nd hurri will go back to stock motor until I can fork for a Z30
or another hacker if this one works well.
Hovered it in the garage last night (was a little hairy as it was not my 200)
95% on the throttle hovering and no noises, kicks or probs (looking good so far)
Have decided to tach it before I fly it.
Whats another 50 bucks

G'day fellow Hurri freaks
Presenting my latest spraycan paintjob effort.
This one is more a trial for the final scheme which I intend to airbrush. A friend of mine and I have made our first few FG canopies at home. This one is the 2nd to come out of the mold and is a wee bit heavy.
There are a number of flaws in the paintwork but I soldiered on anyways, fighting humidity from a very rainy Easter weekend didn't help.
So anyway, enjoy....hopefully much better to come once I get my airbrush fired up.
