Thanks for your compliments Druid.
It was great fun to paint it for you, the pleasure of your company as we finished it off was a bonus.

yeah i really like the design. sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a helicopter or a nascar with rotor blades. i like that it's simple yet bold. elegant yet refined. tasteful yet loud. i could go on....

Wellblung delivered me another canopy to paint the other day.
This one is for Wellblungs Hurri.
It's not quite finished yet as I have to finish the clear after I give it another rub down.
I have taken photo's at each stage of the build-up process, if you guys are interested, I am happy to post em up.

damn thats nice bro(bummer bout the commadore nose in the background...).here's a thought.have you considered building up the area round the windscreen of the mold a little allowing larger batteries...wouldn't need to be by much

Looks FANTASTIC !!!! :clappp:clappp:clappp:clappp:clappp:clappp:clapppF linto - mate 1 to go (or is it 2???)
Kahn did look at fitting larger bats and modding the mold but have just fitted 6s3300's Zippys - tight squeeze but nice and comfy and canopy goes straight over as is. Going a bigger bat I think you start to have too many balance and canopy fitting problems.

This weekend I punched a couple of canopies out of the mould.
I have saved the best one for a future thread that will include the actual fabrication of the canopy, through to the finished product (if people can put up with me for that long.
Anyway, I needed to shed the rock that was one of our early test canopies (180 grams  ) and needed something bright for a days flying at the field tomorrow. So I opted for a simple and fast scheme using some pearls.
Hope ya like...

I'm having canopy woes today. Crashed my Huri badly Sunday, pinion slipped and it fell from about 100 feet. Now I can't locate a new canopy. ReadyHeli has the white one or the original one, which is $55 and I'm not too fond of it. HeliDirect used to have lots to chose from but now they are down to one Fusuno, not in stock for two weeks, or the white one. Spoke with HeliDirect and they said they are not carrying Gaui much anymore as it doesn't sell well and Gaui is hard to deal with. Poop!

Looks like it just slipped up the shaft. Had Loctite but I never bothered to grind flats in the motor shaft. Damage is not too bad, main shaft, front CF frame pieces, tail boom, canopy, canopy mount tabs, skids. The blades were fine as they were no longer rotating when it hit the ground. I was a tad annoyed as it was flight four on a brand new set of Outrage 3700's and they get a bit smashed. So far, they seem fine.
Guess I need to break out the airbrush and paint a white canopy. This will be strange as all my past airbrush work was on cars and trucks, painting clear body's from the inside. We will see how it goes.

I was in a steep turn with lots of pitch, the blades just stalled and it fell out of the sky. I tried but all I could do was hit the throttle hold even though I really didn't need to.
