finally finished my 550 and canopy. the canopy is a cut down trex 600, that I painted mostly with spray cans. I'm happy with the results. Thanks for answering all the noobie questions:lol:

Holy $#!^. I can't believe I missed that, oh well, didn't like the shading on those letters anyway, ha. Guess I know what I'm painting tomorrow :face

Don't look now but you have it misspelled on your lounge home page. You have "Gaut X5 BeastX", more of a typo than misspelled I guess though.

HAHA, nice catch Zeta, lol. my bird's got gaut. Fixed. also I noticed the body on that page was transposed form my 550 page, doh! I got that fixed too.
that was quick on the canopy June :thumbup:

I like the lettering on the canopy better now than the original. Really nice job especially since you just used rattle cans.

Thanks, just waiting for the clear to harden enough to wet sand it, and then I can get it back on the heli.

DIY night paddles with rechargeable li-ion 2032 button cells, and those skid pipes are acrylic tubes with 8" CCFL bulbs usually used in PC case mods. I usually land carefully, but I've given those a few mild thumps without cracking the glass tubes.

Following nearly selling my 425 and deciding to stretch it to a 550, with great advice (thanks mikej!!) ordered 2 trex 550 canopies which arrived today
I am blown away with the price and the quality...$33 delivered for 2!!

Very good quality, more space for the lipo and looks the business
Look in the files tab under the pic and look at the last file, real thing is even better
