I was flying my Hurricane today and suddenly the ESC just stopped working, the heli droped down 2 m, only blades destoyed, lucky me.

Anyhow, I noticed when testing everything after the crash that the smooth start is not activated anymore, otherwise everything seems ok.

I am thinking to move to another ESC now, what do you think guys ?

I have running the bird with 6s 4100 right now, 15 minutes of hovering, perfect for a newbe like me.[/quote]

Yes a lot of people have had this problem with that ESC. I would replace it with something more reliable myself. I have NOT had mine go like that but based on hearing this from many folks I plan to replace it with an Align 75 and a better motor!

Was thinking about my failure, could it be that I activated plane mode in the ESC by mistake and in that particular mode, there is a sharp cut off ?

Still not convinced since my lipos still had 23,2 V after the crash, so it should not be any cut-off.

I have purchased Align 75A ESC for security reason, don't like this ...

It does sound like a hard cut off. If you were pulling a lot of amps you may have hit the wall of how much voltage you battery can hold at that amperage draw. Once the load is gone the pack voltage comes back up.

If you are running a high power setup in a Hurricane you need some REAL 20C to 25C 2200Mah+ batteries. The Flight Power EVO 20 2500 is a really good pack to run.

Adrian, could I run the EVO 20 2500's on a stock setup without burning the esc or the motor, and what timing should I use

Yes you can... thje ESC and motor support 6S setup.

There is a very tiny induction coil ~2mm soldered at the edge of the ESC board. This coil is very easy to be damaged unnoticed and result in ESC failure. I find mine is cracked (unnoticed even look through the heat shink wrap) after opening up the plastic shink. The ESC is cured after some microsurgery done on the induction coil (100uH).
