Hello,
First off, very impressive heli. Aside from the pitch links, parts quality is off the charts.

However, I have a couple of mm of vertical play in the main gear. I have both delrin shims installed (I also had to flip the one-way but that did not change the amount of play).

Is 2 or 3mm of play in the main gear normal for this heli?

Thanks

I have maybe 1mm of vertical play, I wouldn't think 2-3 to be normal. Did you loose one of the brass washers on the one way?

Perhaps send us a video of the play?

On second look the actual play is about 1 to 1.5mm.

I take it a bit of play is normal?

Hi Weule,

Having a slight amount of play in the auto-rotation assembly is normal, it allows the whole assembly to float slightly and is perfectly normal.

I've seen a couple rare instances where the diameter of the bolt was actually a little small and it's the whole one way assembly that's sliding up and down on the main shaft. As long as the hub isn't sliding on the shaft a little play isn't a big deal at all.

Yep, mine is sliding around the bolt. Is the bolt too small or is the hole too big?

Hard to say. I know on mine I was able to use a micrometer and find a fairly thicker bolt that took a lot of it out. Just flew it after that and didn't have a problem.

Mine has a mm or two of play and it has not caused any issues, Not a big deal.

Unfortunately, the bolt sheared off clean at each end during flight (both the threaded end as well as the bolt head). The remnant sits perfectly flush inside the main shaft.

The new main shaft seems to have less play in the bolt

Anyone know of a source for a high quality replacement bolt?

Thanks

Take a look at Mcmaster-carr, they have quite a bit of hardware but you will have to buy it bulk.

Also very strange that you sheared that bolt, I'm running a very powerful setup, Xera 4530-500 10,000 watt motor/Thunderpower 65c packs and I have not had any issues what so ever.

Over torqued maybe ?

I'm also running a 4530-500 with 90 flights doing 3D, no problem with stock bolt.

Make sure it's a 12.9 grade bolt. It has the highest rating.

You can also buy at RTL fasteners.

Yeah, I'm running a Scorp LE although I doubt that was a direct cause (it broke during a fairly mild transition). It sheared off flush inside the mainshaft away from the stress points of over-tightening.

As mentioned there was a lot of play in both the mainshaft and bolt. I ordered a new mainshaft and the tolerances are much tighter. In comparison it seems both the hole was too large and the bolt was too small. Combined i'm sure there was a huge shearing effect going on inside of the one-way sleeve.

I haven't had great luck getting this kit in the air. It must be one of the old ones.

- bad links (had buy TI turnbuckles and replace the control rod)
- e6 control rod too long
- upside down one-way (no biggie)
- oblong shaped head dampers
- broken main in flight (canopy, main blades, landing gear, etc)

hopefully this weekend will go better

Thanks

Good luck Weule. Hope to see it at the field again. I'm hopping to have a show pony as well in a couple weeks. Gobble gobble,
