Is the shake/wobble common with the EVOs...
A buddy of mine was flying his today... Did his first Auto...Everybody give it up for Johnny - jhodges here...
Anyhow... on his decents when the headspead would slow down... it would wobble pretty good...I have never seen this before...
Is this common and is there a fix?

...Keep the headspeed up on Autos. :D
Mine does exactly the same thing. dump a little negative when you see it and maybe a bit of aft elevator to "blow some air up its skirt" :D and it will come right back.

Seriously the EVO does not like headspeeds below about 1650 or so IMO.
In an auto it seems to bleed off QUICK. I am pretty sure it is due to the light weight and small disc loading of the EVO.

I totally agree with fitenfyr on this one. The wobble is due to the headspeed getting too low. I've run my Evo in normal mode around 1500 without any shakes, but if you get below that you'll definitely see it. During my autos, I try to constantly leave the head pointing down (so I'm travelling forward) with the collective stick below 0 degrees. Then at about 10 feet or so I begin the flare which brings the headspeed up even more for landing. With more practice he shouldn't have any troubles wih the wobbles.

I've started shooting some autos with my EVO and as long as the head speed stays up, there isn't any wobble.

About the only other thing you can do is to try softer dampners. But then you soften the overall response of the head.

Like Fitenfyr and Kinger say, keep the head speed up as much as you can and don't flare until you're just a few feet high. The EVO does seem to run out of interia pretty quick if you put in too much pitch too early.

Yep ... it was me. Thanks for all the info. Anyhow, the funny thing is that even though the "Wobble" would be in full effect, there was plenty of energy left in the blades for soft landing.

Hell, I thought the wobble was in my finger ... kinda nervous

Yep...The wobble can be kind of fun once you get used to it. The ship is still in total control and is not going to drop like a brick or anything.
I usually mess with slowing it Waaaayyyy down about 20 feet up or so till it starts to wobble a bit then I dump the collective to about -4 or so (1/4 stick) and slide it on in. :D
Just exploring the envelope a tad.
Mine is laid up right now so no fun autos for the past couple weeks. :( going to fix all that today though. :D
