Been out of the heli scene for about 2 years, but jumped back in with the Mini T. Had a Trex for a while (many, many different variants and flew great with the RD 8000), so I am 'somewhat' familiar with setting up a heli. But have to admit, this reverse swash is kicking my rear end! My Mini T is setup exactly as the manual states. I have searched through many different forums and still cannot get it to behave correctly. This is my current setup, and all is well except for the left and right movement.

"Try this on your setup , right servo to channel one , rear servo to channel two , your esc or battery to servo three, gyro to four and five and you left servo to channel six, then go into your settings and set ail to neg 50 , elev to to neg 50 and pit to positve 50 then go reverse settings and set ail reverse, elev normal, and pit normal, if your flying there stock electronics , set thr to rev, and rud to rev if you have a 401 . this shouild do it for you except you will want to adjust you swash plate settings for how much throw you want . hope this helps."

Can anyone that has a RD 8000 (Airtronics) help me with my settings? I have been working on it for about a week now, trying every darn setting I can, but still can't get it right. Also, when referring to 'Ail to neg 50, elev to neg 50, etc.' is this referring to center of the servo? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to get her up in the air and see the difference between this and my old Trex. Thanks again, Stacy.

Alrighty then....this is my setup.

Channel 1 - Elevator - forward servo in the frame.
Channel 2 - Aileron - Starboard side servo (right side looking from the REAR of the heli)
Channel 3 - ESC
Channel 4 - Gyro
Channel 5 - Remote Gain
Channel 6 - Pitch - Port side servo (left side looking from the REAR)

Elev-rev
Al-rev
th-nor
ru-nor
g-rev
p-f-nor

This all works great except that my for/aft becomes reversed. I also just watched a video on how to setup CCPM, and it was very clear how to setup the +60, +60, -60 on a Futab 7HCP, but I can't find this anywhere on the RD 8000. I am sure it is there, but I just can't figure it out. I know my setup is not what is in the manual, but I have tried that as well, but my left and right movement were reversed as well, to include the reversed direction of the swash. Will keep trying.................It's ALWAYS something really simple.........

Hi sjgusmc21,

I have a Futaba Tx and not a RD8000.
But the RD8000 manual is easy to find on the net...

I see you have set the swash-plate mixing at CCP3(F)? (page 72) which should be OK.
If any servo is operating reversed you have to reverse that particular servo.
(Page 16).

I also see that you don't have a swash-travel menu.
But there is a EPA setting for every channel (EndPointAdjustment) on page 36.
So IMO you should be able to set Elevator, aileron and Pitch throws that way.

And stick to the setupvideos by Finless to compare your swachmovements and travels, and take it easy when doing some tests in the beginning.
I have a test platform attached to my workbench (made from a old office chair :) ) to test the gyro and tail movement and ofcourse pitch, aileron and elevator directions before maiden flight.

Hi,

I am still flying micros, but went thru the same frustration.

I solved it setting everything up step by step.

I know you have most likely tried this but here it is anyway.

1) Disconnect the motors & Gyro as they are easy.

2) Find what your swash arrangement is according to your RD8000 manual and set it on your TX, pg 72

3) Label your servo leads (I used 1 , 2 ,3)

4) Plug each one in and note what it does and which direction it moves (write down it will save doing this again, trust me)

5) Based on the step above plug them into to your receiver and reverse where required.

6) Power back up and see if everything moves right, I am using this TX with a Blade CP and found that my pitch was backward when I used the correct swash arrangement of CP3F. I switched to CP3B and swapped the Pitch and Aileron (ports 2 and 6) and everything is perfect.

I am very new to all this and found information on using the Rd8000 difficult to find. I am learning on little birds I can afford to crash, but was thinking of moving up to one these later. I am will to do what I can to help out.

I am also in the process of fitting some separates I got a killer deal on to a Venom 3DNR (fellow ordered the wrong stuff and dumped it cheap). I will be using my RD8000 on this one too, so far it seems to be different again.

Thank you for all of your replies. Well, I thought something was not quite right with my RD8000, so I went to my LHS and sure enough, there is a problem with my radio. That is what I get for buying it used off of Ebay, and not new. Going to send it back to Airtronics and see if they can repair it (will use it for my future planks I have sitting around not doing anything). Anyway, I jumped ship and went with a DX7 and absolutely love it! Wow, what a difference. Hopefully, this will be the last radio I buy for a long time (famous last words....). Thank you all for your help and speedy replies. Take care, Stacy.
