I converted 2 CPPros to GWS DD, very good tail hold even without HH Gyro.

But motors run very hot...am using the push on 3" airplane style prop ( not the squarish prop shown in RCHeli Adams article) as its the only one availble around here....

Can prop make a difference in motor life/running temp? Am very happy with performance so far but have no idea how long these will last.

Any experiences/tips?

Thanks, Ray.

yes it can. i ran a dd with a 4530 prop that has to use a prop adapter. the motor got very very hot. i put the 3020 press on prop. the motor doenst even get half as hot

A larger diameter prop ( The first 2 numbers) will cause the motor to work much harder but it will provide more thrust. The pitch ( The second 2 numbers) dictates how fast the prop will push itself through the air. A 3020 prop is 3 inches in diameter by a pitch of 2 inches, while a 4530 is 4.5 inches diameter and 3 inches of pitch. Pitch is how many inches the prop pushes itself through the air per revolution of the prop. A higher pitch also causes the motor to work harder. So in essence the 3020 prop is much easier on the motor than a 4530 prop due to less pitch and diameter.

Hope this helped.
