I started building my Big Kahuna last night. Have the airframe together with the exception of hinging on the elevators and rudder. It went together very well and seems so far to be a very high quality aircraft. It also seems structurally very solid but still very light once assembled. My glue of choice was hotglue, so it could have been even lighter. I put in a couple fo degrees right thrust.
I will be using
Berg RX
HS-56's on the surfaces with HS-50 on Rudder
HiMax 2014-4166
CC Phoenix 25 SC
TP 1230 Li-Po
Should be a nice combo. I am really looking forward to flying it. :)
Stay tuned for more details. :)

Will heres a little hint with that gearbox. I know this from experience. turn the pinion gear around so the shoulder is behind the spur gear. This way, if the screw falls out of the pinion gear, the gear is still held on the shaft by the spur. It wont let it slide forward.

Enjoy the minutes you have with him dude... Mine is growing up so fast.
James is right on that pinion. He put one on mine after My GWS pinion kept sliding off. The spur gear will hold it on without the set screw.
By the way James.... did MY pinion gear come in yet? Im anxious to give yours back as soon as my NEW one comes in.

putting the pinion on that way also makes it easier to remove the main gear in case of an 'accident'.
Just to let you HiMaxx guys know, you can now get the gears by themselves. they now come without the pinion as a pack of two for the same price as before. I've got some on the way and you can also get them here:

Hot glue is my choice also. Small sticks weigh about .1oz per and I ususally use about 3 on a kit. Not too much weight considering the ease of assembly and the durability of hot glue. I built the plane for outdoors and durability, not so much for ultra light weight. There are lots of light weight fragile foamies out there, I wanted a very durable airplane I was not worried about breaking.
Building looks good. Hope you get to fly it soon.
We are finally getting the web site up and running. Should be complete by the end of the week including references and links back to my good friends at HeliFreak.
