I downloaded some files from the Reflex sight but I can't get them to run. The program is looking for files that end with .sim but these end with .mod. Any suggestions or am I just screwed up?
Also, how do I turn off the red stripes "no fly" zones?

You can't turn of the no fly zone, but if you install the upgrade/patch the no fly zone only extends 7 metres up (the height is if I remember correctly) so then you can fly up above it.

OK I found the 4.03 upgrade and downloaded it.
Under the scenery menu I noticed there is a "Modify Scenery" button that is never lit up. What is it for?

No, something is wrong here. For XTR you should have the "Reflex XTR Indoor Update 5.01" upgrade from the Reflex Simulator Updates (http://www.reflex-sim.dyndns.org/reflex-sim/shop/catalog/default.php?cPath=21) web sub-page. You will have to go through their web shop until you arrive at the page titled "Your Order Has Been Processed!" and there should be a clickable download link for you to get the update. I do think you need an account with them before being able to do all this.

How do I get the updates, I get email from them but never seem to get anything to work?

The 5.01 update is about 33 megs and you download it via the reflex storefront for free - it's been out for a month or so. Use the link (http://www.reflex-sim.dyndns.org/reflex-sim/shop/catalog/default.php?cPath=21) Tomas Ahl mentioned above to get it and be sure to read the new features page that opens after the installation finishes to learn about what's new. There are lots of new foamies that come along with the new indoor scenery. I've been practicing piro flips in the gym with my fury and zoom. I also picked up the basics of torque rolling with the new foamies... very cool stuff.

Are you sure? The red and white stripes will still be there but you should be able to fly through the "wall". I just tried it myself and for me it works. I also picked the following from The Reflex simulator web about the upgrade features (http://www.reflex-sim.dyndns.org/reflex-sim/shop/catalog/faqdesk_index.php?faqPath=5_55):
The security zone now ends at 7 m. It will still be visible but the simulation will not stop above 7 m.

Tomas is right!! I just did the update and I can fly to where the bars come up but the sim does not reset the heli back to the pad like it used to every time the bars showed.
