I got my kit and was looking through the drawings and on page 7 it shows the image of the Bell-Hiller assembly. The problem is that the pages before it and after it do not show how to assemble that part - it just jumps the frame assembly. Is there a page or something missing? I am new to building helicopters so I am not sure if they assume that a experience pilot would be able to figure the assembly out by themselves? I hope not because I was getting really intimidated by the sudden jump to this image. Thanks for any help.

Here is a drawing for the Extreme Head

I have the Tempest 3D head. So do I refer to the Control System Assembly? It seems those images are the ones missing from the originial kit drawings, right? Thank you.

Click on the above link. It has all the drawings you need to assemble the Tempest 3D head. The control system assembly is down towards the bottom of the page.

Maybe Carey can email the Tempest 3D head drawings and control system assembly to you . That should not be a problem.

Hey guys,
Is bag 1A suppose to contain any additonal screws? All I got in bag 1-A is the Pre-assembled head block. I can't find any of the screws listed for Bag 1A like the #0509 head button. I am hoping it just me being frustrated and that it's in another bag. Maybe all the screws that is listed for Bag 1A is already used to make the pre-assembled head block? Please help. Thanks.

Did you get a cd with your kit ? When you print the drawings out, all of the Tempest head drawings are there. I recommend printing the instructions and the drawings out first. The rod lengths that are given later in the manual are for the Extreme head, The correct lenghts are as follows, the two long links from the inner swashplate to the bell/hiller mixers should be 70mm of exposed rod instead of 71.5, the short two links from the bell/hiller to the flybar need to be 1mm. these will put you in the ballpark for final adjustments. All other rods are correct.

Thanks, David. Also, all the bags in Bag 1X (A,B, C, D, E) are labeled for the Fury Tempest. I ordered the Spectra with Tempest Head so I am assuming that's why it's labeled that way. The rest are labeled Spectra G.

Thanks, Carey and David. I figured out the problem. I download the maunal REV 3 from MA's website but it was for the Extreme head and it was asking for all these parts that the kit didn't come with since it was a Tempest head. I am looking through it now and everything makes sense! Thanks for the drawings. That will help out a lot. I am sure this isn't the last question I'll have :D

Thanks for all your hard work, Carey in getting that manual up to avoid confusion. The manual states the liberal use of "Tri-flow" w/ teflon oil for the main gears. Is there another type of oil that will work and I can get at say a local store like Home Depot or my local hobby shop that would work just as well? Thanks again.

Assuming there is no substitute, where would I find Tri-flow oil within my area? Possibly a Kragen?

I order my tri-flow from Heliproz. When I'm in the States I can usually get it at gun shops or hobby shops.

You can use automatic transmission fluid in the constant drive bearing assembly, and light machine oil for the sliding pitch mechanisms. As mentioned elsewhere, keep the gears dry.

I don't think you want to use any oil on the main gears or tail rotor gears. Keep them clean and dry. I think if you were referring to the autorotation assy. , yes tri-flow or automatic transmission fluid will work.

Long rods @75mm are good, screw the ball links on until you have 60-61mm between the links. On the short rod you need two short links ,just cut another link of the same length as the short one, screw them together. These lengthts are a starting point. Center stick, servo arms centered, bellcranks level, swashplate centered and level, washout arms level, bell mixers level, 0deg pitch on blades. Tweak the rod lengths until this happens. Dave
