Well, it wasn't dumb thumbs. (In a way) I installed my new DX7 in it and forgot to set the V curve in the throttle for idle up1 & 2. Flipped it upside down to do an inverted hard climb, dropped the collective and she went dead.

Managed to flip it back upright but couldn't get the headspeed back up in time, so it belly flopped kinda hard.

Damage:

Landing gear
Double links
Servo frame
1 servo arm
pulled a ball out of the swash plate
Header tank

Not bad all things considered. Just wish I would have crashed by myself instead of at the Chattinooga fun fly event. In front of 75 or so of the Freaks.

Sux Alan, but not too bad as far as damage though.
My biggest fear... turning it belly-up while in normal.

Part of my "ritual" on every single flight is to spool up to half stick which should be zero pitch, hit idle up, give a small amount of negative to see that the head speed holds to verify that it really is in idle up. then lift off.
As long as I do this ritual every time it will be impossible for me to lift off in normal.
I never, never, never, fly in normal mode.
There are some people that set a flat pitch curve of zero pitch in normal mode to be sure they can't forget to hit idle up.

Everyone hates to see someone crash, but then we hate to miss it to. :arggg:

Bad thing is, I never.. ever fly in normal mode. Since the gov. didn't turn off until 20% throttle it was too quick to react to.

It would hold until about 6 degrees of negative pitch before going to an idle. Mark this one up as a lesson learned!
