I don't have any advice but would like to hear about how it goes. How the build is and your impression of the heli and if you encounter any problems.

Hi dogg5306

I've just about to finish a new Stratus and conveted my Extreme :glasses2:
I hope to get the first flights tomorrow :D

The quality of the parts are aresome, all fits together perfect :D

Make sure yort dial and balance the fan.
see http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?t=1417.

Glue the tailboom to one of the tialboom clamps, with a small amout og CY - to secure it does not get falls out of the clamps

Controlle that the gearmess on the open tail gear is according the instructions.

then go spank it

Hi,

From my experience with the Stratus it took some playing with settings in the head and different paddles before l was happy. Give it a chance, don't just set it up as the manual says and assume thats it. Play with some settings to see what you like the heli can really become a different beast. Maybe try a pair of carbontech paddles if you can. Apart from dial indicating your fan make sure your alignment is right between the fan and clutch driver.

OK guys, I'm starting to build the bird...
I just put the engine on the landing gear and about to start fuel tank preparation...

Though I'm wondering how to install governor's magnets as there's no recess on that fan... is there a special fan that need to be ordered :?:

Can someone please post a picture of those magnets installed on a Stratus...

Thanks.

Hi,

I have drill a Ø4mm hole (in a milling machine) and glued the magnet in the fan.
And balanced afterwards, in a balancer, (Propeller-balancer), and balancing it by drilling small "Not going throgh" holes.....

Sorry i have no pictures:-(

Hi

Regarding: Engine alignment:

Was out flying with my converted Stratus yesterday.
Didi noticed some foam in the tank... :(
Then I did (as descrieb in a HH tropic), loosen up the bolts that holds the engine plate, an did some short hover time.
Placed the Heli on a table, with the engine in ilde.
Screwed the screw tighted the bolts agian, with the heli stading on it's landinggear.

As far as I can see the foam is now gone :D

Here's a short comment about MA and the Stratus from somebody that is just going through the... "experience"

- Very very nice assembly manual... actually so detailed it is impossible to make mistakes unless... errors or wrong things are found (did find a few ones)
- Kit quality is excellent, all parts do fit very well... no complaint at all
- I didn't like the fact that you've got drill through the fan to get your governor's magnets installed

But OK... those are my feelings for now... the bird should be in the air within 2 weeks (yeah servos are still located somewhere in Japan)

Good one :D

Tips:
Just double check the tank for leakage spatially if you are running the YS.
Check the open tail gearbox for no play. It's really easy and quick to do. In 30 flights I have had to tighten the mesh once so far. But I am not a 3D hardass anyway.
Show us some picsis :D
