Hi guys;

Need help here to set up the picth and cyclic pitch for my Stratus. May I know what is the pitch you get for below combination : Why I need to know? I am have Tempest 3D head on my stratus and I cannot get +/- 12 degree of pitch and 8 degree of cyclic pitch because of 2 location binding 1)Rotor hub pin hit the swash and 2)the wash out arm hit the rotor hun pin.

Combination :
1) Stratus and stock stratus head.
2) Stratus and Tempest 3D head.
3) Furry and Tempest 3D head.

Hi Sern

You should check to make sure the linkages are set up correctly. I just check my machines and on the extreme head and tempest head, I can get almost 17 degrees of pitch (not that I want that much) and 8 degrees of cyclic quite easily.

Hi glenn;

17 degree!! I do even can get pass 12 degree with 6 degree cyclic.

I set up the linkage base on the manual. I try to reduce the lenght of three linkage link to swash. Now I can get 12 degree pitch but the cyclic still stuck at 6 degree. If I apply full pitch and my washout arm hitting the swash.

On top of this, do you know why I get zero at center, full positive I get 12 and full negative I only get 1-10 / -11 degree?

He has a nice article on a way you can mod your Stratus into more pitch/cyclic.

Sern,
If your only getting 12 degs of pitch and 6 degs of cyclic. You definitely need to revaluate the set up on the head.

I would first recommend to make sure the swash plate is exactly in the center of its travel range when the collective stick is centered at 50%pitch curve.
If the swash binds against the washout pins at full positive collective. Then the three links to the swash need shortened a few turns. Then you will have to adjust the links above the swash again to get the pitch at 0 degs at mid stick ( 50%).

It is possible to have -14 to +14 degs of pitch and several degs of cyclic.
One thing to consider, unless you are very good at collective management when flying. All your going to do is bog the motor and put it in a strain all the time.

As for the balls on the swashplate, you can use a washer between the ball and the swashplate where it threads in the base. That is what most of the pilots that made that mod did.

Any of those above will work. The 25060-19 from Hirobo works nicely. I use those all the time to shim bolts against bearings.

Thanks David !

Btw, what about the part number for MA longer thread ball ?

Don't know anything about a longer ball except the ones that MA has in there current part listing.

the part number number for the longer inner balls is 0112. i do not think this is in ma's price sheets . david is correct about collective management when is comes to high cyclic inputs. if you use these ball make sure they clear all around the inner swah plate race. i had to remove a few threads that were sticking out for a bit more clearance.
