Had a glorious day here in Hampshire (southern England), very warm and mostly calm - perfect flying weather.

Anyhow, I changed the the burned out brushed motor, heap of junk, for a nice Medusa 1200Kv with an Otter ESC, still propping the original 7x4 Master Airscrew. What a difference! A little more power was easily evident, but it just ran so cool. I run it on a 1500mAHr 3s Kokam pack, and the batts were just room temp. Typically I was getting 8 mins of motor burn time in 1 1/2 min bursts for altitude then gliding back down. Giving in all 1/2 hour of flying time, AND, that was only using 50% of the pack!!!! Thank the Lord for brushless power :D

Hey Rick where did you fly today? I flew yesterday getting peed off with my 61LX engine cutting out. Today I stripped it and is waiting new bits (bearings etc)
I want to get a "hit the ground get up and fly" wing
I was looking at something like the Irvine Xite one
Have you got any suggestions being a heli and plank flyer. BTW I've never flown a plank

Hi Mark. Our club uses a couple of local sites. Today we were at an Army Polo field at Perham (a small Army village) just 2 miles from where I live - ideal. If the horsey brigade are there, then we can't fly 'natch, but then we have use of some old Army shooting ranges just 1 more mile away. Its all licensed and done proper through the MOD. We get a few dog walkers, ramblers, golfers etc but generally good flying sites.
I just Googled the Xite wing. Yeah looks good if you want a kind of bash and crash, yet still fly type - I was thinking actually of a Zaggi, which is very similar, and I've seen them landed quite roughly, cartwheeled even, and still fly with no apparant damage. Not that, I'm sure, you would want to treat it badly. But if your looking for 'rugged' and versatile, then you won't go far wrong with your choice.
They go great with electric power or from a slope (and can manage with quite gentle slopes due to the low wing loading) and can even pick up thermal lift. Good all rounders, flying wings. The only issue I ever have with them is orientation - in silhouette they kinda become weird shapes that can throw you at times. Do make sure you fit it with a decent motor/batt combo though - theres nothing worse than an underpowered wing - they can get quite draggy at high angles of attack. Just like a true Delta infact. Oh and one more thing, just make sure its got enough room for all the gear in the small centre pod - don't get one that has to have micro servos, thumb nail Rx and an impotent tiny Lipo. Other than that, go for it! Show us some pics when you've got it. :D

Well I bought this today from Ch4 in Poole - £50 + £20 for the ESC (then he gave me 10% off). It comes with a 480 motor, the battery tray fits my Impulse 3C batteries I use on the Trex and the receiver and servos I have already lying around. Just have to build it and cover it now then crash it :D

Looks ideal Mark (except for that 480 brushed motor  ) The foamies are near indesructible, though maybe a little weighty for lift sniffing. Watch your fingers when you hand launch it - elec props can bite too. Not a bad price either. If you get bored with it at some point, you can also be a bit adventurous by extending the front into a fuselage, adding a small foreplane and experimenting with a Canard design! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with your wing. Flying fixed wing develops a whole new set of skills.
