What are we all using for a monitor on downlinks. How do you like yours? I've started shopping around. I've looked at a lot of portable DVD players. Some have a second monitor screen without the DVD for use with an aux video input. This would make a compact monitor I think. What's the pros and cons of things like TFT and LCD etc. What would you get if doing it again?

This is what my setup looks like for the Camera mans RC unit. This stuff can easily be swapped over to the Pilots RC for solo jobs.

I just ground tested my new 'Digital Camera Preview' downlink system.
I got to 825 feet clear line of sight on the ground. Rx and LCD monitor in hand and Cam/xmtr on a picnic table. I think this is going to be totally acceptable! If my heli is 825 feet away(Swift 16) I am going to have real problems seeing it for orientation.

Friday 6 PM: First aerial test. Trex 450, Fuji E900 9 MP , 100mw Rangevideo 2.4, Occasional very short static patches from the air at about 500' away(diagonal measure not up). I think this was when the antenna was turning edge-on. The video is otherwise clear and rock steady . I got a couple of glitches on my radio.(i used an SBEC off main battery to power the 2.4 Tx. I think the video-out cable from the camerawas coiled up and very close or touching the antenna to the main radio(72 mhz). I moved the antenna and let it trail back from the skids and no more glitches.
