I did a little review of the new quad copter. Let me know what you think of it!

Great video review Jasmine! I got into this hobby the past 3 weeks via the Blade helis from flying one of those cheap mall helis (Syma S109G) and now have the mCPX, MCX2, mSRX, mSR, and 120SR. I just started watching your Trex 250 build videos also! My LHS got the mQX in and now I think I'll get one of those too!

Hey thanks for the review and the tips Jasmine. I'll be using some of those when mine arrives for sure, being that it's winter time and I'll mostly be flying inside an apartment for now.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you liked it :)
The little heli is pretty fun. I took it out to the park and ripped it up a bit, and it's fast and nimble on full rates. For inside though, I still recommend using the half rates.
Even after the wind comes up, the little helicopter is pretty good. It gets blown around a bit, but it has such good control and the gyros compensate for little stuff, it's not bad.
I am not a fan of multi-copters. I have flown a few and never did like them, but this little thing is changing my mind :)

Hi Jasmine!
I didn't think I liked quads either but I have had so much fun with this thing today I feel I have already got my moneys worth!
I would have to agree running a low rates indoor is best for me so far. I managed to get to 90% outside today and think I could have gone higher due to the wind but I still had a blast!

BUMP - pretty clear from the questions people are missing this. A lot of your questions are answered in the video!

I added some videos to the first post, showing the LEDs stuff for night flying.

If you set it up in heli mode you have throttle hold, just pic 1 servo normal

Yes but that's the hard way. Turning on the radio and binding it without doing anything else is the easy way. There's an argument thread around here somewhere about this issue.

If you already know how to program helis it shouldnt be a problem Plus you have control of rudder ,elevator and aileron tuneing

You can also set all your dual rates to the flight mode switch in heli mode. Very handy IMO

You can do this in airplane mode too. The only thing you don't have is throttle hold. For fixed-pitch helicopters, the pitch curve is irrelevant, and the throttle curve is not needed. With high-end radios, you have flight modes, throttle curves, and throttle hold on airplanes. The DX7S, DX8, and all the JR radios support that (and the DX7 kinda does with the "COM D/R" option). With one of those radios, the helicopter mode does NOTHING except provide additional confusion.
When I make tutorials and reviews and stuff, I tell people about the easy ways to do things. With everything in this hobby there can be multiple ways of doing it, but I am not in the business of making this hobby seem complicated. I want people to enjoy it, and I want to bring in new blood, and making it seem like you need to be an electrical engineer just to get off the ground doesn't help. So, while I totally understand what you're saying, I just don't want to muddy the waters with it - not in a video designed to be helpful and to bring people into the hobby.

So your saying set it up in plane mode?

You cannot use the DR COMBI function in airplane mode with the DX6I. Only in heli mode. I don't have a dx7 or dx8 so I guess I should have specified.

I'm saying people can do whatever the hell they want to, but the machine is a basic 4-channel aircraft and that's all it needs. If you want to go the extra mile and set up throttle holds and stuff, on SOME radios you must use helicopter mode. This requires that you know additional things, such as setting the proper swash plate type, but there is additional advantage to that. On the mQX, you can smack yourself on full throttle and it won't be bad, so I'm not particularly worried about accidental start-ups and don't think throttle hold is necessary.
However, some people will want to set it up anyway because of habit. For some people, having all their aircraft the same really helps. I am not like that - I benefit from a specific setup for each aircraft, which may use different standards than my other aircraft. I don't set up throttle hold on any of my planes, or on FP helicopters - so I'm not going to go to the extra trouble of doing it for my mQX.
AND, I certainly am not going to go to the extra trouble of explaining how to do setup in helicopter mode on a video that was already almost 15 minutes long.

Wow touchy touchy :bawl:tongue
So who asked you to do a tutorial video on setting up the mqx in heli mode??

Wow +1, as a heli flyer, when in trouble TH is nice to have, Also haveing it enabled on the Q is very handy,

It's just an explanation of why I don't recommend that mode and why I didn't talk about it in the video.

If you have a radio like the DX8 you can use throttle cut in airplane mode. It works just like throttle hold.
