i did on both of my extremes, took them off and sold them, the thrust bearings do not last long. the plastic grips work fine and are cheaper to fix.

Hmm anyidea what cause the thrust bearing to be gone so fast ?

Also how do i check my plastic grip thrust bearing when do i need to replace and when not to ?

Just the nature of metal grips to be hard on thrust bearings. All metal grips I have experience with the thrust bearings do not last as long. The thrust bearings need service more often in metal grips to keep them in top notch shape.
