I have the 550t gyro and the 8700g servo on my heli. only have the jr 2610 transmitter. The gyro uses two channels to operate between heading hold and normal mode. As i only have the six channel transmitter at the moment,i have used a y lead to operate the gyro in heading hold only. This worked fine for about 10 tanks of fuel. The i started to have problems. The tail started drifting and adjusting the push rod had no effect. Then while flying, the tail became very slow. I landed the heli, checked every thing and it seemed fine. On the next flight, i took of,the heli lifted into a hover and started spinning around. I had no control over the tail.I managed to land, but tipped it over and broke the blades.
On a check of the system, every thing seemed fine, but now to nervous to fly it again before getting some advice.
I know that putting the leads together on a y lead is not the correct way to do this, but could this in anyway be the problem? Or could it just be a problem with the servo maybe overheating? I am using a 4 cell 4.8 battery with i know jr advise.
A fellow flyer told me to get rid of the gyro and servo but dont want to do this unless nesassary.
Any help or advise would be really appreciated as i am fairy new to helis and not that well up on electrics.

I had the same gyro, and one channel selects heading hold/rate mode the other selects your sensitivity. If you have these on a y-harness this may be your problem. I would imagine you are going to need the 7th channel for this gyro to work properly. It is a good gyro, and I had great service from mine. I just recently sold it with my heli, but after 3 years of being on the same heli it was still going strong!

If you are using a 6 channel radio do not use a y harness. The white connector gets plugged into channel 5 and the black remote tail lock connector does not get used. The gyro is then uses the the tail lock on/off switch on the amplifer box to select if tail lock is always on or off. Below is a link to Horizon Hobby's Manual for the 550 gyro.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/ProdInfo/Files/jrpg550t-manual.pdf

You then use the Option 1 instrutions on the left side of the second page to connect it to the receiver, and the Rate /Tail Lock always on instructions on the bottom right of the second page.

Hi
Thank you for your help and replies. I have now got myself a jr3810 adt transmitter and have set it up with this transmitter. I have now flown the heli with no problems at all. Tail holds really solid.

Again, many thanks
