lol. Well if your girl is anything like my wife I am sure it wouldn't be too hard to make her think that the 600 is the same heli as your 450. I pretty much spend all the money I want on heli stuff but I get away with it by getting my wife $300 purses and stupid stuff like that. LOL. It was easy to get her to understand helis. Just told her it's like new purses, she saw my point immediatly. hahaha

lol, you guys are hilarious. doesn't matter what i buy her, i've been cutoff from buying heli stuff on the cred card. i have been approved to spend a lil bit of cash tho for fathers day...yay!

so, i decided on a whim to take the pro inverted today. it was down to the last two minutes of the last pack of the pro for the day and i decided what the hey. well when the whim hit me i think she was only 10-15 ft in the air...not good. by the time i had her flipped over she was 5 ft from the deck and sinking fast. i think the shock of actually seeing her inverted may have contributed to my delayed reaction. when i finally realized i might be able to save it with neg collective it was just too little, too low, and too late. :arggg:

thankfully it looks like i only have a ben main shaft w/stripped main gear. despited the crash, it's kind of a relief to finally have gotter her upside down. next time, higher up, and neg collective right away lol!

after that what left to do but fire up the rex...so nice having two rigs! just hovered her around and practiced more nose-in....great day all in all. :D

take the weights off your flybar or move them close to the head..

eddo22
06-17-2007, 08:04 PM
good idea...i will definitely do that.

i wanted to check the snappyness of my pro a few weeks back. i jerked the cyclic stick to the left and the heli didnt try to roll on a axis it went into a high banked left hand turn.. i assumed it was cuz of my flybar weights.

ive also read in the rex forums that when you start doing flips and rolls that you need to be able to fly with the weights moved into the head or half way out.. or with out them..

eddo try moving them half way in.. if you have 2 on each side. move one to the head..

rgr that...just picked up a new main shaft. after i put that in i'm gonna just move the weights all the way in and see how she feels.

rgr ? since ive got over my fear of crashing im going to attempt to run full seperates. altho i dont think i need to with a brushed main instead of brushless. the torque shouldnt be all that much...

eddo22

roger that! separates can't hurt even if you're running brushed. why not go brushless tho?

txflyer

a) my brushless system is currently installed on a gws slowstick.

b) with my old setup wich was brushless main , dd tail, 3n1. my tail sucked at holding i was getting almost a 90 tail slide to the right..ive got to get back in the damn air bad. so i want something simple. im going to have to use the 3n1 but i dont wich motor it would be best to put it on. im thinking the tail. i just really need to upgrade my packs..BAD!!!!!!!!

any one want to buy a cnc silver micro heli head for a pro ? never used, just need links. open to trades
for tp packs

im still shocked at how bent my feathering shaft was. it took 10 minutes just to get it some what str8, and 3 smashed thumgs. one got hit 2x's

hey that slowstick looks kinda cool...is it fun? hard to learn? can't be harder than helis right?
yeah you're better off stock on the pro now that i think about it. save the cash for more cool upgrades on the t-rex.
i just got a hundred fifty from the wife for father's day...now what to buy....what...to...buy... :glasses2:

401 enough said..

i havent flown it yet. im learn how to setup the pushrods for the rudder and ele.. its caused a few hours of thinking. i get full rudder throw when the servo arm moves towards the back of the plane. but when i push it the other way. the push rod stops moving and the arm just rotates around the rod. i also need another ar6000. other then that its my eflite park 370 and 20amp esc. it will run off my packs for the pro once i get better packs for the pro. planes are hard in there own way. if something goes wrong increase power and pull up.. but there constantly moving so you gotta stay on top of the them. when you land from ive learned from my last plane. just line up and ease off the power, dont nose down..

well servo arms are installed and at 90's.. all i need know is a digi caliper and i can get my links set per the align book. amazingly if you set your radio up to the settings in the book. it seems to work fairly good. i have no servo binding unless im at full pitch ( +, or - ) and full cyclic. then its very minimal. i was impressed... now i need the links balls that have the stand off grinded down. but i dont have a dremel so more shelf time..

Hey TX,
Is there a reason you upgrade the tail on your rex so fast? I have read around the boards that the tail is that great, as in not so durable. Why did you pick the micro heli tail, how much and where did u get it? I kinda dont wanna spend that much...but I don't want it to break like glass everytime i land hard in tall grass either...

i got from my lhs for about 75 the reaosn why, i was looking at the blue metal tail holder. wich is just the part that holds everything to the boom. it was about 40. my heli guy showed me the mh one. i like the silver over the blue. it also came complete. i upgraded purely for bling and safety. ive heard of the stock tails exploding. i also noticed that when it was put togather some of the screws didnt tighten down. so i was alittle worried about it.. my way of thinking is that i can spend 40 bucks not and half ass it. but later on I WILL end up buying the rest. also prolly having to pay for shipping. so i went ahead and just finished my tail. the only other i might do is the reduction gearing when i get comfy with flying in idle and running over 3100rpms. if the head is spinning at 3k rpms on a heli, and it has a 5-1 gearing for the tail. for every one complete spin on the head the tail rotor spins 5 times.. that means with a hs of 3k the tail is spinning at 15k. altho the trex gearing is 4.2-1 i dont want anything exploding going that fast.. i do alot of tail in stuff and have alot of time on the pack where the tail is within 10ft of me.. this hobby scares me cuz you can get seriously jacked up or killed by something flying off the heli..

also my hobby shop has a discount program. for every 100 bucks you spend you get a coupon for 5 bucks off. yyour supposed to only use one coupon at a time per sale. the tail and cf boom gave me another coupon. they let me use a few at a time.. ive reached my limit of 4. so when i buy my 401 it will cost around 120 instead fo the 140 before tax...

win win

oh one more thing.. the balls on themh unit. has 2 holes the ball the pushrod attaches to has 2 holes, the ball links for the grips have 2 holes.. so that way you can really fine tune the tail.. just unscrew a ball, apply thread lock and put it in the next hole. if you can get the adjustment right..

right on...we having a get-together today for all the june bdays in my family (6 of em, including mine which was yesterday), so no flying today, just surfing the net.
found this on the sa thread at rcg, http://www.helidirect.com/product_i...products_id=841. all metal guts for the stock tail housing. i'm gonna go this route and maybe just save for a 401 too...at least it will be more reliable. just not as pretty as yours :D
