Niiiice. I'm jealous. I get my vacation and holliday check on friday and man is it tempting to go pick up a new 450se V2....oh so tempting. I would have one fantastic day of flight than my wife would kill me. LOL

ya i wouldnt get a v2 due to how hard it is to get parts. get a rex 450se. have a blast with it, then when v2 parts are every one and anywhere. convert it over to the v2 head and tail setup..

i just got done installing my 3 65mg's. i need to redo a plug on the motor other wise id have my esc mounted. rx shoud be shipping soon. then i can proceed to servo setup.. i am even condisering swapping my g90 over to the rex for a few packs, that is if i actually get the charger and 2 tp packs as promised after i ship the sim.. im stoked and cannot stop looking at it and picking it up... i really want and know i need to tear the head apart to check for locktite on these 2 screws that were pointed out for me to check. but im kinda scared to. after i tinker with something it never works right again....lol...

Congrats bub I found I had a bad servo last night so I have to order a new one. There goes another week of no CPP flying for me I may as well just go to the brushless motor and speed controller I hate to order a 16.00 dollar part and that is it. I should have done a good post crash Inspection, you learn something new eveyday.

that you do, ive been lazy with my pro im just tired of working on it.. it could fly right now, but i still need to program my 10amp bl esc.. by the way man i have the eflite 20 amp esc that is suggested in the cpp book..

congrats man! i crashed my sa for the first time today...doesn't look too bad. i'm hoping it's not too bad... :(

i dont trust the plastic. i think every crash will be a new main blade setup. grips and spindle. along with bearings.

it does kinda suck, with the pro if you crash you replace parts. witht he trex you replace parts and bearings..

Ya I'm a bit green with envy too. I can't wait to hear your flight characteristic comparisons. I'm goin for the SE too when I go. I'm havin fun and doin a lot of learning with my Pro right now. Some guys say why not learn on bigger and better sooner...that's valid but I figure by the time I'm bored with the Pro the SE will be real nice to move into.

So keep postin man and tell us how nice it is!

the way i see it i will stay learning on my pro. why risk crashing a bird as nice as the rex is learning nose in hovering... i will fly my rex when i get fed up with the pro.. but then only tail in and side on hovering..

It turns out the rex wasnt too bad after the tip over. i just had to readjust the tracking and wipe the baseball diamond dust off her.
the power on the rex can't even compare on the pro...whole 'nother ballgame. it's hard to get used to, very intimidating! i actually don't like flying it it's so nerve racking...hehe. like you, tx, i'm gonna practice more with me pro. just hovering and MAYBE light ff on this beast of a t-rex for now.

turn the thottle curves down.. my pro only runs atmost 90% in idle up, and at full throttle in normal. come to think of it normal mode is turned down to 80% at high stick.. you can tone down the power. then once your used to it turn it up 5%. hell mid stick in normal mode on my pro was 30 i turned it up to 40 and was like damn, that spins alot faster. so i backed it down.

ok so my goal is the have a clean ass trex.. i spent another 2 hours last night thinking out how to run my servo wires. well one side is done i think, the other side only has one servo wire but i really dont like how it sticks out.. i would like some feedback on what you guys think..

thanks for the suggestions on the throttle curve tx! i was in a rush to get my rex in the air so i was happy with them just being connected hehe. i have, however, bookmarded this guys gallery http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/gallery/28268/ . his setup is sick! maybe it will give you some inspiration. your bird is lookin nice btw...i like that wire covering stuff!

here is a few pics with the motor, servos, esc, and ar6000 installed. ive already shortend my gyro wires but i need some super small heat shrinks. im also waiting on my sim to arrive at the other guys house so he will ship some stuff including my tail servo

i just noticed in the first pic. the smoke is from a cig, but in upper right hand corner it looks like a face

lol nice pics man...i was hoping that smoke wasn't the 'magic' smoke that you maybe had let out of the esc or something...hehe. again, i got my sa used so i haven't had the pleasure of building yet, so i am quite jealous. how much more do you have left to install before you are done? also, what tail servo and gyro do you plan to use?

i got lucky man never flown sa, and never used 430l motor.also tho i have checked every single bolt and screw on it..

im going to be using the g90. ive heard its only good for hovering but considering my skills are very lacking now since i havent flown a full battery pack in a vry very long time.. i used to be able to hold a tail in hover up to 30 to 40 feet. no problem.. im not sure of the tail servo he is sending. i dont wanna dig through 6 pages of pm's. altho eventually a 401 and 9650 will be on the tail. i always thought the 401 was around 170ish. turns out there only 130ish... if i had small enough heat shirnks the gyro would be mounted and plugged up. then its just a tail servo..

thats the electronics i still need to set the servos up and th esc and the gyro and the tail servo / rudder. also set the head up.. wich im thinking of paying my heli guy to do.. or get a swash leveler

man, if you can swing it just get the 401 now. i did the same thing as you and picked up a used align gyro. it's cool for hovering and ff. But i've been experimenting with punchouts and have found that the gyro can't hold it. the tail swings left on hard punches. maybe i need to dial it in more, i'm not sure. but right about now i'm kinda wishing i hadn't spent the 40 some odd dollars on this gyro and just put it towards a 401 instead...live and learn...

i understand man, but atlest i can hover.. ive done a few side in hovers. didnt even have to think about stick imputs. last time i tryed i side in hover, it went down hard from 8ft.. snapped the boom, broke a blade grip, bent main shaft. this was on my pro..

point is i need to atlest hover. i miss holding a good hover up high.. the only ff i do is fly it away from then back to me tail in. but i can do it pretty quick and stop almost on a dime. gotta love the sim, im pretty sure once the rex i dialed in and i get a better gryo. spinning to side in then into ff with a nice stall turn woudnt be to hard. that was 70% of my sim time.. huge monster high stall turns..

just did some quick figuring of how much ive got invested so far

traded rf 3.5 for the rex ( i dont count that as a cost ive had the sim for 4 or so months)

hs 65mg's x 3 = 113.97
eflite duel bec 40 amp esc = 49.99
black nylon braided sleeving = 4.60
new bag of links = 3.99
tools and other need items = 75ish
astro flight blinky balancer and tp plug =21.00
dx6 = 80

total of 348.55

figured if some one here is thinking of peicing a rex togather you can get an idea of the cost. shop around for deals. i could have got the 65mg's for cheaper. but i hate shipping and waiting. but i will still have to invest for a 401 gyro, a power supply, and lil bling.

eddo22 how far in are you ? also whats your setup ? and comparisons to a pro ?

i bought mine used for $350. it came with hs-65's and airtronics 94761 on the tail and align case, 325mm blades, and a spare set of align carbon blades.
then bought:
align gyro used $40-50.
i thought the 94761 was bad so got new s9650 from someone here. $55
dn power charger/2xlipo combo from readyheli $140
flightpower evo25 $75
spektrum dx7 $350, but sold the servos for $70

so i'm in about $805. it's didn't hurt so bad tho cuz i sold my old racing bicycle and a fishtank to get it all...heheh.

as far as comparison's to a pro...there is none. you are gonna freak the first time you spool this thing up...it is awesome! the pro seems like so much more of a toy now, but i still love it. i am much more comfortable flying the the pro around and i don't mind if i crash it. i don't think i've flown the rex since i tipped her over that one time last week...i too scared to crash! lol!
