View Full Version : Seal between engine and muffler.
Hi
I have a OS .50 hyper and a Fun tech muffler. I have just assembeld it without any sealant, or gasket. Resulting in oil goo on the engine and trainnig gear.
How do you seal this joint?

Here is some things you can do.
Level the mounting surface of the muffler.
Take some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Lay the sandpaper on a piece of glass and wet it with some water. Hold the mounting surface of the muffler as level as possible against the sandpaper and slid back and forth a few times. This will make the mating surface more uniform.
You can mix up some 5 min epoxy and smear on both mating surfaces, muffler and engine. Then bolt the muffler on the engine and let the epoxy set. This is a great sealing compound.
You can get some automotive gasket sealing compound for high heat. Smear on the muffler mounting surface. Then bolt the muffler on and let it set up.
Any of the above have worked for me .
