Underslung:
Easier to isolate vibration
Heavier
360 capability
Front mount:
Lighter
270 degree pan
Some like the flight characteristics more
More stable landing platform than tall underslung

What about setup and costs?
From your report it would be hard to chose one over the other. I noticed you use an "underslung" with a Trex for adventure/extreme shots. Are you getting shots that might be used in some of the extreme vids?

Set up cost for everything minus camera but including mount......about 3 grand or so, depending on how many batteries you start out with.
I'm still developing my flying skills. I skipped working on a winter project for the winter of 06/07 and dedicated all that time to developing my skills for a 07/08 project.
