Well we test flew the spectra today. Spent most of the afternoon chasing problems including a T/R servo that failed.
Rob Stump has built most of the heli and helped me a lot with the set up.
So far according to Rob it flys the same as his Temptest but has not had a chance to really fly it yet.
So far no viberations the motor is running good although it is way rich, but we are now 1/2 way through our first gallon.
I am happy with the heli so far!!

Great! Glad you are liking it. Let me know if you encounter any problems, questions or observations! Keep going and get the motor broken in well, just remember to let it fully cool between flights, have patience!!

What T/R problems did you guys run into? Please share us your problems so that we can learn from them too!

The servo was brand new, and failed on the 4th tank of gas. It appeared to have something wrong with the pot as it could not center. It would just sit there and move back and forth very fast.
This was the GY401 with their servo combination. so it was not the heli's fault or a set-up problem, just bad luck.
Should be back in the air next weekend!

Hi Perry,
I had the same problem when using the Torpedo muffler. Torpedo muffler looks to have the same way of attached system than the Hatori.
I read in this forum that others people got the same problem. There is a fix http://www.helifreak.com/about4528.html
With my old gaz and the spectra I use now Zimmermann exhaust and there is no problem at all with their attached system.
For your choke problem, I do not understand :?: the choke is attached to the air filter. I have never seen that kind of troubles.

I drilled and tapped my header and used a grub screw for each bolt. Should work like the new ones that are shipping.
Had to order a GY601 as I my new 401 crapped out. The heli flew perfect for a gal & 1/2 then the gyro would let the tail drift more and more till it does a slow 360.
The heli does not appear to be excessively vibrating so I must have just go a bad one from futaba???
This is the first time I have ever had trouble with the 401's
Other than my pull starter not staying attached to the heli all of the sudden I love the spectra
