Which battery do I want for my T-rex? The 2170 3S or the 2500 3S? Is teh 2500 much heavier?

Here is a photo of the two packs side by side. I think the 2170 is a lot better fit in the machine.

My unofficial weight on Steves postage scale that I am not sure I know how to work is the following.

2170's = 175g
2500's = 205g

The 2500 will give you about 10% longer flight times (at about a 4% increase in AUW) and should run cooler, but will be hard to fit and may not balance well. The 2170 is definitely a better choice (and cheaper!).

Is there anyone running the FP 2500 on their 450SA.
Can the canopy be put on without interference?
Is the CG affected?
I am getting a 450SA at the end of the month and want to pick up a couple more batteries as well, trying to decide on FP 2170 or 2500.

It's probably not a good idea, look up a couple of posts in this thread. The size and weight are poorly suited for a T450. You will only get about 10% longer flights, typically that would mean maybe an extra 30 to 40 seconds. But you will have paid more for the battery, have poor CG, suffer more damage in a crash (more weight = more inertia = greater forces = more damage) and get poorer flight performance. There are lots of good battery options for a T450 but I don't think the 2500 is one of them.

Actually, FlightTech the FP UK Distributor is selling a TON of the 2500 EVO Lite's they say they cannot keep them on the shelf.

Actual dimensions of the EVO-Lite 2500 in mm are 38.5W X 114.1 long X 26 Tall. The Weight is roughly 5g more than the 2170.

I have heard reports from FlightTech that you can get a full 10 minutes of flying a stock T-REX 450, but I will tell you what I get with my 450 V2 and XL motor as soon as I get a few of the Lites to try. If I can get a full 10 minutes, I will be delighted and probably switch to the lites. I use the 450 to learn and practice and 10 minutes is enough to twist my brain many times over. :glasses2:

Ah OK, these are the new 2500 Lites right, not the 2500 that is in the photo above and you said weighs 30g more ?

From the info it looks like the comparions for 3s/11.1V is:

EVO25-2170 25C/54A 24x36x112mm, 176g
EVO25-2500 25C/62A 20x39x127mm, 209g
EVOLite-2500 18c/45A 26x39x114mm, 181g

Certainly mkaes the EVOlites look very attractive indeed. Am I right about the 18C rating on the EVOlites ?

Yes Kenneth, you are correct. 18C continuous. I should have some soon, and I will try them and also get some video. From what I have been hearing they should be great for the sport pilot. I will know for sure soon.

I didn't realize that there was a 2500 lite until I read your reply.
By the look of the size and weight it looks like it is made for the T-Rex.
I am still just trying to get stick time hovering so I don't need a high C discharge rate.
Thanks for the info guys.

Will, did you ever get the evolites 2500's ? Did you do a "10 minute " run ? I gotta buy some new batteries, just wondering.

I should be ready to fly hopefully this weekend. Just got back from a seminar in Orlando since last Thursday.

I will report back when I finally fly it.

I fly the EVO 25 3S 2500MAH in my 450SE. Did have to move the 9650 back on the tail to get good CG but man is it worth it. The 3550KV motor feels like it got a heart transplant with this battery. I've put over 100 flights on this combo and it rocks! Does require the Align Fiberglass painted canopy though and it is more expensive but for me was worth it. :)

Ive been running the FP evo lite 2500 18c in my 450 se v2 now for about 10 charge cycles. I think the cg and weight match perfect and im getting long flight times compaired to the stock align "puffer" stock 2200 mah.

Also the battery temps are lower with the FP battery after 5-6 minute flight.

Align 118 - 122 degrees
FP 110 - 115
