Kyle has done 99% of the work with my guidance.
I know we have been conditioned to think that it is OK to be missing a screw here or a part there but so far this kit has been perfect and I gotta say that I like that!

Hey Will, Kyle has been coming out since he was 2. He started flying the sim at 5

We didn't get much done today due to a "Freeze Fun Fly" but here are a few things are new and interesting to me.
The 12 mm main shaft is first.
The auto hub has a steel clamp around it to keep the aluminum from expanding. Interesting.

The swash plate and wash out assembly look pretty serious

Kyle picked this canopy from Arizona Helis.

Ray, the 12mm stuff does take some getting used to. Make sure you wash out the auto bearing with BrakeKleen and re-lube with trans fluid. The reinforcement ring was added later, to armor the auto hub that was having problems. What main gear ratio are you going to run?

Stock is 8.45
I have ordered the main gear to get to 8.27

Not good!
And we were doing so well.
Due to buggered threads, I broke a screw off in one of the flybar control arms. Jeff S. had the same problem.

I have spares Ray. I'll get one out to you so you guys can keep going. That is if they are the same as the 60/90 version.

Thanks Al. I ordered the "Cage Flybar Arm Assembly" which will be here tomorrow.

10-4 Ray. I have one on my 90 also. Although I don't care for the look of the cage, it is a nicer set-up.

I am so with you on that one, my son turn 3 in November and one of the guys at my club is going to help me get him into control line when he turns 4. At least it is some sort of a start. He is driving my wife and I crazy to go flying at the field already, at least with control line he can come along and fly something that way.

I started the hobby in control line when I was 5.
Our club is installing a control line circle this Spring.
I am anxious to introduce Kyle to a new part of the hobby.

Kyle is one lucky boy to have such a good father.
When I was Kyles age I could only dream of this stuff.
I know my little fella is gonna love this hobby.

By the way Kyle has great taste in canopies, that is going to look great on the SE. :glasses2:

We are almost there.

OS - C Spec with Muscle Pipe
Modified JR8311 servos
JR 810G on the Throttle
Model Avionics REV MAX (I'm anxious to try this)
JR 500T gyro-JR8700G on the tail
Duralite 5.1V Regulator with 4000 MAH LiPo
V blades on main, paddles and tail

Kyle and I had fun building it.
Not everything is in yet but as it arrives we work on it.
For the most part it goes together well but the manual is pretty vague in some areas.

Thanks Al
I just realized that there were no missing parts in this kit.
Who would have thunk it was even possible!!

Jeff Swartz was right though. There are extra nuts and bolts.
I wonder where they go...

They are spares! With the 30/50's, they always gave you a little bag of gibblets.

Jeff Swartz was right though. There are extra nuts and bolts.
I wonder where they go...

The reason is some bags are packaged for other applications such as 60-90 with plastic blade grips. Some shims may or may not be needed for gear mesh and belcrank positioning. The extra thick washers are incase you did not have the sideframe doublers. I guess it is more efficent to package this way to cover the variants of the R60 backbone design.

You gonna let the little gaffer fly it!? :D

PS

You might want to remove the bending/bowing on the tail boom supports by angling the aft plastic sideframe attachment points, otherwise you'll be eventually cracking support bolts.

"You gonna let the little gaffer fly it!?" Stephen, the little gaffer is teaching us all something! You can not ask him to fly a maneuover he can not do the first time. He doesn't "practice", he just does it! It's really something to see. :noteworthy
