So, I've been trying to get a spare battery for my DX7. I found that Duralite makes one that's Li-Ion, but is only 1400mAh, and costs over $100, plus requires a >$50 charger.

I also found (and since lost) some company that's selling a TP LiPo of some sort, plus connectors to use that. It requires "re-use" of the existing connector, which would disable the include NiMH. I suppose I could buy another Dean's to re-attach it, however, but they recommend disabling of the plug so you don't accidentally charge the LiPo with your NiMH charger, which seems like a good idea.

I called up Horizon Hobby, and they recommended a JRPB5011 battery, which I went ahead and ordered. It's rated at 2500mAh, which sounded great. Now I notice that it's stated to be a 9.6V battery, which is considerably less than what my DX7 shows on its screen.

Is there a good way to get a spare battery for this thing? Is that battery I ordered going to work?

I wonder if I'd have been better off getting that replacement regulator...

Try this one (Half way down the page> http://home.comcast.net/~truerc/ready_pack/ready_packs.htm

True RC 11.1v 2500mAh 3s1p TX Pack. A lot of us are using these. I get a couple of weeks min on a charge. I charge with my TP 1010C or my Pocket Lader Lipo Charger. Have also charged with my Astro 109.

If you charge with the battery in the TX, keep the charge rate down to 1.1A max.

$30? WOW!

I've got a Cellpro 4s, so I should be set for charging it.

Thanks for that!

The battery that came with your DX7 is also a 9.6V battery, fully charged it should show near 11.1V on the screen, it will work fine.

The battery in my DX7 holds a charge for a long time....

More than I fly in a day or weekend

I have a quick charger and just top it off every once in a while.

Yup, thats the pack I'm using too. I have also done the switching volt regulator mod from dimensionengineering. One charge lasts over a month.

So, how low can you let the stock DX7 battery get to before it starts to be dangerous/affect your control??

Way back on page 102 of the DX7 manual, it states:

"Do not fly below 9.0V on the transmitter or below 4.7V on the receiver. To do so can crash your aircraft."

Hi. This may be a stupid question but I am a newbie in the T-Rex 600 and DX-7, so please forgive me.
The helicopter came with a RX-BEC battery pack.
The DX-7 came with a RX battery pack.
I am confused about all this, in the build video FB only talks about the helicopter battery since (I suppose) he is not using a DX-7 setup. Ok, this pack connects to the BEC and the BEC connects to the receiver. So how do I manage the RX battery pack, should I use it to power the receiver?
Now what about the Lipo that came with the helicopter, what should I do with it, should I connect it to the BEC, then the BEC will be connected to what???
Please give me some light on this.
Thanx

I just charge my stock batter when it falls below 10.0 volts. Usually this is 16 flights or so. It is about 40% discharged at that point.

I would say keep it simple and get another stock batt.. Mine lasts for over 11 hrs and takes about 5 hrs to fully charge with the stock charger.

How about a ION 2000mah 3s2p that plugs right in. Runs the transmitter for over 16 hours on a charge. Perfect fit as well. $50 shipped.
