No. FBL makes a big difference, especially with the smaller helis, but no piece of electronics can defy the laws of physics. Bigger = More Stable

dunno ... my mcpx v2 seems very stable, more so than my logo 400 vbar

You should address the setup of your Logo 400 & Vbar. The mCPX is excellent for what it is, don't get me wrong. I'm as bold as brass with my one and will try anything, including kaos, piro tictocs and piro hurricanes, but I can make it look much more graceful and accurate with any of my bigger helis.

300X for smaller area and cheaper to crash (only a guess). (backyard kinda heli)

450X for a larger feel and I guess, more controllable. (small field kinda heli)

If I had to choose, i'd get the 450X.

If I was able to get both, definitely both as they serve kinda different purposes.

I am getting the 300X first, tho.

We have a park a few blocks from our apatment. It's so close that we (my girl and I) would rather just walk then drive. The park is kinda small, too. The 300X should be perfect to just toss in a duffel bag or small case with some batts, the transmitter, and a few spare parts; then we can just walk to the park at a moments notice and have some fun.

And I can tell you that if I like it half as much as I think I am going to, the 450X might not be far behind.

If they had a 300x supercombo kit I would of been all over this heli. HH should consider it. Why not have a kit not put together with better parts in the kit to off set the savings in the lack of factory assembly? I think it is a real big + to build one of these things. I have learned so much on my first build.

You probably already know but, Blade helis will never stick anything but bnf and rtf kits out considering they appeal to mostly people starting out or just moving up without moving to much up. Also the I like that the blade heli's come bnf/rtf considering there isn't much to them considering the blade 300x is similar to the sr, where the sr is really straight forward, frame is just 1 piece, tail just has a wire with a motor connected to it, and with everything else being easy but the head which is nice to take apart yet annoying and you know how to stick it back together sense you took it apart.

You're going to need much more than just a few spare parts if you crash to get her flying again. Only really small helis like the mcpx can be up and flying after popping in a link. I'm pretty sure the 300x will a thorough once over after a crash. Feathering shaft for one is mostly likely I be bent along with the main shaft and possibly blade grips.

I understand this, "few spare parts" is a pretty vague statement. I will bring what I feel I may need. If I stuff it hard and can't fix it on the spot, well, like I said my house is a 5 minute walk down the road.

When I go to the park with one of my buggys, I usually have enough spare parts in my bag that I could basically build another buggy (less the motor).

In Phoenix 4.0g beta, where do you put the file you made to make it available to fly? I've looked around for this info. but haven't found it yet.

unzip the zip-file and place it there

That worked fine with 3.0, but after switching to 4.0 beta, it no longer works. Wonder if I need to un-install/re-install.

Make sure you have the standard BladeSR heli installed. The variant will then appear under it when you expand the arrow.

To pick between the 300x and 450x.. What would you guys pick and why?
Getting Both (Blade 450X ordered today from an online HS). I'd of purchased the Blade 300 X first but it's not available yet.

Why?

The size of the Blade 300 X would allow me to fly it in my backyard on a whim...sport flying as I'm still learning 3D basic's. The Blade 300 X is also small enough that I can hover it indoors should the weather be too rough for a pilot like myself. Yes, I love helis that much where just doing hovering indoors is satisfying:D. Plus, I have to allow cool down for the Blade mCPX motors...got three of them!

I currently have the Blade 450 3D :peace and love it so getting the Blade 450 X was a no brainer; both will be with me for as long as I can hold on to a transmitter.

If it came down to money, the Blade 300 X first for sure ... the Blade 450 X got purchased with some ah-hummm, tax refund monies, LOL:thumbup:

300x will be out in less then a month if there on time, but seems like you would like the 450x more anyway seeing as you loved the 4503d. Only a $80 diff or so between the two birds so that isn't a big issue although the 300x will take a bit more of a beating and be cheaper to fix if you mean that.

Yeah BurritoSnake, I'm sure once the 450X arrives in the mail I'm just going to love it...maybe I'm in the minority and being a Sport-flyer (as in not 3D savvy just yet), but I personally digg the bright blue canopy paint scheme.

With the 300X, I know for sure that I'll be getting one with several E-flite Lipo's and I hope it's everything I want it to be ... to include being fairly easy on the wallet to repair. For me I'm hoping that I'll enjoy it so much that I can "concentrate" on being an expert flyer with it. I also have the CopterX/Trex 250 hybrid and Walkera V200D03 and I'd like to just shelve them for display. With "All" my helis, I feel that I switch too much between them (one flight after another); over a year into this hobby, I'm picking my favorites and sticking with them.

Can I ask why the throttle hold in the manual is suggested to be at 10%? This will be my first large heli so maybe I'm missing something.

Ben

That question was also asked in the 450x forums. It's not a typo. HH confirmed that that really is how you should set your throttle hold with a dx6i. Basically, it's a compatibility issue between the dx6i and the receiver in the 450x/300x; in order for TH to work correctly, you need to set it to 10% throttle. I'll see if I can find the post, and link it here.

HH really should have expanded on this with a bit more of an explanation in the manual. *Everyone* is gonna look at that and think, "Oh, that's gotta be a typo. I'll just set 0%"

Edit: Here's a link to the thread about it in the 450x forum: http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=393300
