First of all, anyone who would take a Dremel to a helicopter to remove the clutch is too stupid to own a helicopter. Also, I don't believe he smoked the clutch, he probably smoked the clutch liner. Now that I've gotten that off my chest the frames don't have to be split to remove the clutch or the clutch bell. Remove the engine. That will remove the clutch since they are attached. If it's still smoking pour some water on it. :) The clutch bell can be removed without splitting the frames as well. Remove the main mast and main gear. Remove the collective pitch control arm and the servo frame. Remove the eight screws that secure the two bearing blocks. Don't lose the spacers. As I recall, there is a frame spacer in front of the clutch bell/pinion assembly. Remove that and the clutch bell, bearing blocks, and pinion can be pulled out the front of the machine.
If you friend is going to just buy a new bell with liner the bell can be removed in place. secure the pinion by using padded pliers and using another set of pliers unscrew the clutch bell from the pinion. This usually screws up the bell, but if done carefully it can be used again.
I hope this came in time before the Dremel did it's work.
