While doing some winter maint on the Fury, I noticed that my upper bearing block is bent a little. So off to the parts box I go. I found an old upper bearing block from a custom. ( the kind with the recess for the bearing and thrust bearing. I think I'm going to use it and just put 2 bearings in it like the extreme. My question for the group is: the bearing block I have looks very similar to the Extreme 120-12. Are they in fact the same part?

I am not sure but I believe 120-12 is just a little deeper than the block from the custom. But you can still use it, maybe about 1/2 of the lower bearing will stick out of the block. Just loctite the bearings into the block and that will not be problem.
The lower bearing may also fit flush, then your good to go. Still loctite the bearings to the block.

Well I measured the recess at 9 mm, so I guess 1 mm of the bearing will be sticking out. Should work fine.
Having this block got me thinking Dave, why did MA stop using the thrust bearings, I always thought My CT autoed a bit better than the Fury and I always attributed that to the thrust bearing. Was that just my imagination?
