Tiger Thunder Pro 39

My Raptor 30 has just come out of the shop after have been proffesional set up for the absolute beginner

However the guy setting it up says that the present engine a TT PRO H is on its last legs and will need replacing in the near future

I was going to buy a new TT pro 39 as the price is right around £80 in the U.k But reading many forums , most people reckon that this engine has bearing problems

Can anyone suggest a replacement engine that will drop straight into the Raptor 30, V2 which is not too costly and suitable for a beginner

I am only likely to get to the hover stage within the next 12 months so nothing is needed to get me past this stage for now

I don't know what's wrong with TT39 but I heard I have the same power as a OS37.

Also I think that the bearing problem is because of people don't put their heli away after the weekend properly. Remove the fuel from the inside. To do this, start your engine. Then remove the fuel line or pinch it. It should rev up then die. After this start it once more, but don't put the line back after the first time.

It's not about rust; the stock bearings disintegrate b/w 4-8 gallons...But, everyone knows I consider the TT39 the same as fuel...as a consumable :cool:

Solution is get the 50 Conversion kit, and an OS50... You'll be glad you did.

I have not been aware of any bearing problems on the TT39 engine.
At least not on mine and or my friends TT39 engines.
The TT39 carb my not be as easy to set up as the OS32 or OS37 carbs, but it gives the same power as the OS 37. And if you use a pipe as the MP2 or the latest generation of large volume mufflers from Zimmerman or Hatori(#415) you will get plenty of power.

I had a TT39 on my old 30 and it had plenty of power. I never had any bearing issues either. I ran about 10 gallons through it bfore I sold the heli to a buddy to get started flying. He flew it for a couple more gallons before it was ran lean for the last time. He now has a OS37 in it and that is also a very impressive engine. The TT39 is a bear to get tuned right but once you figure out how to tune them they are great flying engines. I did do the low speed needle mod and that helped tremendously.
