Hey all,

I recently upgraded from a 401 to the 611. Dismayed by the pathetic manual that accompanies the new gyro and it's enigmatic descriptions of the various functions, I turned to my heli mentor and buddy Bobby Vyne for help. He had quite fortunately seen this setup tutorial online a while back on Nigel Brown's website, and had actually cached a copy of it for future use. Good thing, as when I went to find it, it was gone. So Bobby distilled the former web page into this graphic file and Nigel has given me permission to disseminate it to you all for future reference.

Thanks Nigel, this is an excellent description of how this gyro /radio setup should work, and I think a lot of HeliFreaks will enjoy a better understanding of the gyro as a result.

Regards,

Well got to try it out today. I think he helped by making the limits equal but the 10% & 40% delay he talked about to save the Crown gear is questionable at the moment!!!
I've flown out over a Gallon of fuel on my gasser & crown mesh is Perfect. The only thing I changed was the limits & delay settings after re-seting up the servo & the first full to one side piro, Grrrrrrrwwaaacck :bomb: Striped the Crown gear???????? :arggg:
Mabey my Limits were off, causing binding @ the tail drive gears to strip the crown? That's my only guess???? :dontknow

Sorry for not replying, but I'm not getting notified about responses to this thread for some reason, even though it says I''m watching it. Wierd. Thanks for the conversion Andrew.

Jontherooster, My understanding is the delay is supposed to lower the stress on the gears. This makes sense as it's like a buffer to ramp the piro rate up and down, rather than the otherwise more brutal and immediate start/stop that the gyro is capable of without the delay.

If you have been flying without the delay for some time then there is a good chance that you fatigued the gears, so it was bound to fail at some point. That's just a guess though. I imagine if you leave it alone with the new settings you will get more life out of the new set of crown gears.

I bet my mis fortune was due to bad limit setting.
Now that it set up perfectly, I'll set up the delay settings again. Anything to save my Crown from the abuse on my Gasser with it's Balistic piro rate!

This is a great guide.

Yesterday night I was fighting with my 611 setup, with no good results but a deep frustration, finally today I got this guide.

Why not to make a sticky theat with all of this setups and how to's.

Thanks to all
