So, whats everyones opinion of the Razor - its been out for a while,

I have been flying mine for about a month or so and starting to really like it - yes, its a bit heavy, but the quality and stability have made up for that. I am just about to jump up to 11S and see how that feels,

In any event, would enjoy hearing some comments for the all of you regarding the Razor,

I ask because I see some guys have gone from MA to other brands,

Thanks,
Jeff

im just running in packs now so i will be able to answer this soon

as for amny other guys going to other brands, i beleive that 10s is expensive and u need to invest in a lot of packs to get good use out of your model.
a trex 600 with packs is a cheaper start point, although im sure they break more bits when they hit the dirt !

mine still going strong , a few little problems like yesterday I noticed alittle vibration , come to find out the tail pully on the back was rubbing the bearing every 1/4 turn on the blades , it was enough to mess up the gov in a hover, shimmed and smooth as silk

I have been flying my Razor since about February 2007. I have had no technical problems. I am happy with the design and build of this craft.

I am running a Jazz controller, Tango 45-08 motor, Flightpower EVO 10s (5+5) 4350 packs, Spektrum DX7 radio, Futaba GY-611 gyro, Curtis 600mm mains and Curtis 95mm tail blades.

My skill level is figure 8s and single flips (any direction). I can nose-in on the sim but, am not yet confident with the money-crasher.

With those specs in mind, here is what I think of the Razor:
Very stable.
Predictable, well mannered flight characteristics.
Heavy to carry and in flight.
Under powered--i.e., power to weight skewed to far to the weight side.

Would I buy one again? Hard to say. I would look seriously at a TRex 600 on 8s power. I don't think it would fly with anywhere near the stability of the Razor but, I would be more confident about throwing the TRex around in the air since it would weigh much less. Also, I could buy more batteries since the total cost of ownership is lower.

If I built another Razor I would build it for 12s power with smaller (~3200 MAH) packs and 620mm blades. I think that would put the P/W ratio closer to the sweet spot.

Hope this helps.

I love the way the Razor performs. It is on the heavy side, mine is close to 8.5 lbs.
I wish it was lighter. With my flying style, I'm getting 7-8 min on 5s 3700 Evo 25.
My buddies that fly Trex's like the Razor better than their heli. Quality is better.
Duh! I have 4 batt packs and was thinking of getting the Ion X2 and running it on
15S 3700mah so I wouldnt need to purchase more packs (well, maybe 2 more)

I love mine, went through some issues getting tail to hold initially.

Rock solid machine, a great build, and flies like it is on rails. For my style of flying it is a great match and I am using 4350 packs.

i've only got 10 flights or so on mine so i'm still playing with esc and rotor head settings, but so far so good. i have a logo 14, t-rex 600, and a razor and i like my razor the most. even at almost 2 lbs. over the other two, i prefer the razor's smoothness which suits my flying style. when i want to do 3d, i pretty much only use my t-rex since the parts are cheaper (if you don't crack the frames). eventually, i'll start to wring out the logo and razor. i never recovered psychologically from an expensive ion-x crash so now i've been flying really conservative with the more expensive machines :(
