I've been Sick as a dog for the last week. What little work I have done on the Spectra has gone smoothly(It's done with the exception of the radio and motor). The only missing parts have been the two pem nuts in the aluminum channel, and the ball bearing from the swashplate anti rotation.

All in all, not bad. I know it is not an easy task to package up so many parts without something missing. I also know a quick call to MA will have them on the way. I tried to call the other day, but they must be down for the Holidays.

About the only thing I don't like so far is the setup for the pull start. I'm not at all that keen on the starter key on the motor having only 1/4 of a turn of thread. This may vary from motor to motor, but on mine, a quarter turn is all there is.

I'm going to machine my own starter key to replace both the stock unit and the spacer nut.

And Yes, I would have to say that the fan shroud was worth the wait.

This has been one of the best MA builds I have ever had, and I have built a bunch of them over the last 17 years. Very little tweeking on my part has been required. I like that most of all.

Nice Job Miniature Aircraft!

Hey Mike, just take the nut off and replace with a 1-2mm washer and it should be okay. Had to do it today on the 4th tank of fuel.

On the pem's in the rear channel. I just used two M3X10 Hex Head Bolts ma#0089.

Rob, If you have the pem nuts or can get them out of some busted Fury frames/ channels, use a bolt and a washer to pull the pem nuts into the channel. This can be done with the machine still together.

I've got them John, Cyndi sent them out a few days after the kit but for some odd reason I had two extra of the 0089's in the kit so I used them. If I have any problems with them I'll replace them but so far so good. BTW, any advantage in swapping them out?

I had the extra 0089's also. Locknut and a washer works fine, but I still want to change it out at some point. Probably after the first crash.

Rob, I was thinking of doing something like you mentioned with the start key. I just havent had time to make sure it would still engage far enough. Thanks, you saved me an hour in the machine shop.

replace the nut with part # 0848-3. The drawings have been updated to reflect this. There is a posting of such elsewhere on this site

Thanks for the info Carey. I missed the post with it, and I havent bothered to print out the latest directions. I called MA today, and they are sending me the missing bearing, and pems, and the spacer you listed. I think the bearing was a fluke, I know a few other guys that have built them, and they had em. Stuff happens. In my opinion, the fact there was a small mix up on a part is not a big issue. The big issue is how the problem is dealt with. Ma has always been great about this type of thing.
