I am trying to figure out what went wrong. I have 2 identical 3cell batteries. Both where fully charged. I made a serial cable so I could use as a 6 cell. (The cable was positive to negative). When I plugged it into the Align 75A Brushless ESC I got sparks and melted some of the connector. Good news the batteries still seem fine. No sure about the ESC. Can anyone provide me some thoughts

the only thing that would cause the shorting out of the connectors is a mismatch of the wiring setup
Make sure that you have coming from the esc connector the positive to the positive of one battery and the negative to the negative of the other battery then the remaining connection is from the positive on one battery to the negative on the second battery

Well 6S does SPARK when first connecting due to the higher voltage. You dont see this on 3S. This is normal and because the large capacitors like on the Align 75 are empty and need that initial charge. However it SHOULDNT melet anything. It might leave a little arc spot on the tip of the connector but thats about it.
If your using a wimpy connector other than say a large Deans then yes that initial spark could damage the connector.
Other than that you have something wired wrong! What connector were you using?

FYI the initial SPARK from 6S DOES damage the Align blue connectors. AMybe not the first time but after about 10 connects it make the connector really burned looking.. This is why mose people do NOT use them.
