Please forgive my ignorance, but can anyone give me a guide on how to shorten the wires? The A640 AV plug has multiple output wires more than a metre long, but I only need the (yellow) vision, while the D/L transmitter has no less than 4 wires, connected to a 4 pin connector similar to the FMA IR sensor. In a perfect world, I would like to hook up the A640 output to an extremely shortened one on the D/L transmitter. Everything works perfectly at present, so I can transmit the complete "through the lens" picture including screen settings etc to my 7" LCD groundstation, but the wires are way too much. I don't have any problems with power wires, but am unsure about A/V stuff.

I have wired up a Dimension Enginnering DE-SWADJ adjustable regulator to power the A640 and radio Rx with 5 volts (but the bugger won't let me reduce voltage below 6.5v at the moment - I suspect its faulty).

thanks in advance for any help

the AV wires usually have a center insulated signal wire surrounded by a braided ground.

just peel back the outer insulation to expose the braided ground ad then twist the ground into a single wire, next peel back the insulation on the center signal wire and now you have two wires. Do the same to the other shortened end and join them together.

I usually only heatshrink the center wire and then a piece of larger shrink over the entire joint.
