Well I did it..All this talk made it too hard to wait on a Trex 500. I ordered a Hurricane 550 from Readyheli.com yesterday and I gotta tell ya, John (I think John was his name) is one hell of a nice guy. I called him today because I needed a few small parts that we required for the hurricane that I did not know I needed.
Well John dug through his new and even his personal scrap parts to come up with what I needed. To me, that is going the extra mile for a customer. It was totally unexpected and way past what most companies would do.
My hat's off to ya !! Only wish I had known about your company before I bought my Trex.
Rest assured I will be comming back time and time again for my heli purchases.

Hello @all,
my name is Joerg and i´m from Germany. I´m flying the Hurricane too and i have already the new gears... received today... big thanks to ReadyHeli.com very very fast
I hope i can test the Hurry at the weekend, today its raining.
I have the stock motor with 23 pinion, new gears, 515mm HeliTec Blades and 3S1P 2100 Lipo.
But i will change to A123 batteries.
The next step will be, the new motor and tailupgrade ( Trex600 )

Just courious, what is the advantage of using A123 Batts on this heli instead of the 2x 3s1p Lipos ?
Thanks

Hi Tom,
it has nothing to do especially with this Heli.
It is only the "easyer handling" with this batteries.
If you have a right charger then you have a short charge time and this cells are not so "dangerous" as lipo's.
i'm sure, if you search for this "batts" in this forum, then you will find a lot of threads.... so it is in the german forums :D
bye

Well I got it yesterday. I ordered the 550 ep stock setup. Putting a 401 and 9254 on the tail. Using a DX7 and AR700 and DS821 servos for the cyclic. Frame looks really tough. Seems like it will take a bunch to break this frame.
Not sure about the one piece plastic linkages or how strong they will be. I found one broken out of the box. One of the short linkage on the blade grip was cracked at the top where its the thinnest. This makes me very worried about the other ones. I temporary replaced it with a spare Trex 450 linkage I had laying around.
This thing is HUGE !!! Almost scary huge ! With these blades it will look like my push mower upside down.

My delrin gears and Revco pinions arrived from ReadyHeli today, big thanks for great service again. At the moment I've still got the stock motor fitted so I've left the original 48T gear fitted but changed the 61T main gear and it certainly looks the part. I'm using 3300 3S lipo packs that I had in my battery box, usually used in a plank but they fit pretty well under the canopy, total weight ready to go with carbon blades fitted is 2.3kg which is just over 5 pounds, to compare my Swift weighs 2.7kg, 6 pounds. I will also try it out on 2200 3S packs and see which I prefer but I've got my Century 600+ motor ready to fit which will probably be happier on the 3300 packs.
All I need now is for the rain and high winds to stop so I can try it out. As soon as I can get some flight on it with the original motor to bed everything in, I'll swap the motor and gear and maybe fit the fibreglass canopy too.

Tom,
Lots of us have replaced that top link with the Raptor adjustable length link which is a defacto standard Raptor part. Hurricane and Raptor use have the same size balls.
Using this allows you to make the mixing arm level with the blade grip which is supposed to help in the setup. Using the Hurricane fixed length links you are stuck with what they give you.
Finless showed this in one of his videos.

I've now fitted the Century 600+ motor together with the Phoenix 60 ESC that I was suing in my Swift. After re-programming the ESC I took it out for it's first flight today, hit idle up from the start and no slow spool up - straight to 80% throttle  It's a testament to the strength of the Revco gears that they stood up to the abuse with no damage to the teeth, when this happened on the Swift it instantly stripped the main gear.
It's a very quiet heli in flight, I suppose a factor of the module sizes used fr the gears and pinions, my only criticism so far is the somewhat slow cyclic but other than that all it's needed from the get-go is a few clicks of trim on cyclic, even the blades were perfectly tracked.

I wondered about the cyclic, always looks a little slugish in most of the vids I have seen. I wonder if lighter paddles would help?
As far as the gears go I have th OK gears on mine and as soon as they start to show wear I will be ordering the REVCo's

I think a longer flybar would help, the paddles are fairly light but the flybar seems very short. I'm using BBT 500mm blades at the moment and I thought shorter blades speeded up cyclic :dontknow

Try the Raptor flybar with stock paddles if you want to have faster cyclic. This becomes a very quick setup.

I did, there's certainly a big improvement but still not quite there yet, the paddles themselves look a little small so matbe some paddles that are larger but no heavier.

Hi Tom,
I flew my Hurricane yesterday with the longer flybar....it really works. Not bad for a 3.50 us$ upgrade :D
Yesterday it actually was working against me as well due to the hard wind. Allmost lost the bird when it came nose in towards me when the wind caught it from the side :WOW

What about using the T-Rex 600 flybar. Will it work? ReadyHeli doesn't sell Raptor parts and I'm putting another Hurricane order together with them.
I put the 220mm flybar on my T-Rex 450 and it feels much better. Would probably be a worthwhile upgrade on the Hurricane too.

We have about 10 flights on our H550 pro with new gears from Gaui. It has 1500w motor and 75amp esc from Gaui also.
We are running TP 3300 3s packs for 4:45 hard 3d.
Head speed with Rototech 515mm at 2690 and RCP 500mm at 2780.
So far the gears are holding pretty well as I see zero powder residue around the gears and they are super quiet.

Hi,
Forgive me if I am hijacking.
I have just upgraded to Guai's 75amp ESC, got the new EVO25 2500mah 11.1v (x2) and also the Guai's 500mm CF blade. I experienced power cut while doing tic toc and crashed within the 3rd minutes of flight time. Mild 3d was fine. I am not sure why. I am not a electric/electronic gig.
All other stuff are stocks such as the motor and gears. Please advise. Should I upgrade the gears?
Thank you.

Which Raptor? E550?
thanks!

Are all these gears still available?
I see the front gear and pinions on readyheli.com, but is the main gear still available?
