Perhaps someone might be able to give me some hints as to whether it sounds like I have a defective radio or could possibly be doing something stupid.

I was hoping to get my first flight in on my new T-Rex 450 today and was setting up the new DX6 radio that I got along with it. I got about 95% through the setup and then all of a sudden whack its like the RX came unbound from the TX.

I’m following the manual to a T and sticking the bind plug in first and then powering up the RX. The orange light starts blinking, and then I hold down the bind button on the back of the TX and then power it up. The thing is, they never bind and I have never seen the blue LED on the back of the TX ever come on.

Does this sound like a defective bind button on the TX or could I have just hit something wrong in the menus?

Thanks,

Dave

Plug the bind plug into the Battery port on the RX otherwise it won't bind. Also ensure your model # in the TX hasn't accidently changed.

Blue LED on TX?? The bind button has a green LED. It will go out when you press the button... no blue led.

Orange light on RX blinks, like you said, this indicates you have bind jumper in right place. Light will come on solid when bind occurs (and you'll have servo control). This should take about 5 to 20 seconds with a DX6 and AR6000.

Jermo's comments are right on... except commend about "ensure model # hasn't changed"... DX6 does not have "model match" so which model # in TX doesn't matter.

Brain fade on my part. Yes its green. I must have been in a (dare I say it) “blue mood” with it not working. LOL

Well as it turns out my TX went Tango Uniform. I was able to sneak out of work today and have the place I purchased it from check it out. They were really cool about the whole thing and swapped me a new TX even though the distributor insisted they RMA it. I really appreciate them going the extra mile to get me in the air rather than making me sit in the penalty box waiting for a repair to get done on brand new equipment for a bird that hasn’t even been off the ground yet. :thumbsup2:

Thanks for the help. Apparently this particular failure is supposed to be pretty rare with the DX6 according to the distributor. Me thinks it was probably just bad solder joints on the bind button itself since everything else in the TX seemed to be fine.
