Hi Guys,

my Trex 600 Nitro arrived today. My question is can I use the Loctite which is in the kit? Or should I buy something else?

Cheers

If you can coax the paltry amount of it from its container  I found it easier to have a new bottle of blue Loctite handy ! No reason not to use it otherwise.

Anybody have an idea of what kind of red grease come with the 600N kit?

I usualy use white lith. grease.

For the main gear one-way bearing I usualy use Tri-Flow. The manual shows to use the red grease.

Which would be better to use for the one-way?

yes, you can use it if you don't have another.

hmmm .. the bottle of loctite I got with the kit was FULL (although I uses the blue loctite I already have.. and I used white lightning for the grease.. I'll just keep the red stuff for a later time when I may need a bit of loctite..but the kind of loctite used isnt the matter.. it the fact that you USE loctite on EVERY metal to metal parts... and I have found it better to use the loctite that HPI gives with the savage for all my plastic parts.. I dont know what the thick red loctite HPI exactly is, but it is way better than CA.. actually it's the best loctite I have ever seen or used.. so if you can get a tube of that.. you can use it on metal to mtal and on the plastic self tapping crews... it thick and great.. you would love the stuff! I'll see if I can get a link to buys some... I have used this stuff for years now, and on everything.. it's some great stuff, and it's made for plastic part too

Why would you want to use loctite on plastic?

I read that loctite makes plastic rough. So I wouldnt suggest to use loctite on plastic.

There is some suggestion that Loctite rots plastic and that it is better to use CA for metal to plastic.

so what is the green loctite for ?

To hold the inner race of the bearing to any shaft.

i don't understand "inner race" :( could you explain with other words plz ? :)
do you mean "to fix a bearing on a shaft ?" from the circle inside the bearing ?

erniefritz

yes, the part of the bearing that touches the shaft is called the inner race , the outer part of a bearing is called the outer race...

Hmmm, I think it is used to hold the outside of the outer race to the bearing block, otherwise removing the shaft could be tricky :?

I use it for both inner shaft and outer race fixation - but use Loctite bearing retainer which disassembles fine
