After thinking it through and researching all the possibilities, I finally pulled the trigger. My 7HV should be arriving sometime tomorrow! :bacon:banana:bacon
Was a tough list of contenders, but the 7HV kept coming out on top. Cant wait.

Got home and the box was waiting for me. Yey! First impression: This thing is huge. Coming from a 450 to this thing the difference is immense. Still waiting on the Outrage servos to get here. Will be running a Scorpion motor and CC 120 (sorry Kontronics was just way too much to justify to the wife at the moment). Will also be running microbeast and looking at purchasing the Gens Ace 5300's. Very exited!

Nice! Wow quite a transition. I remember when I went from 450 to 500 it was quite a jump.

I wish I had gone to a larger heli earlier on in my flying days. You will find that things feel a lot easier on the 7HV than the 450 once you get past the "OMG it's huge and costs more than my 450" stage. Once you get comfortable with it you will most likely progress much faster than if you just had the 450 to fly.

You aren't flying until you have put a 700 in real hard:Bang If you do it right our parts bill should be somewhere between one and two 450s rtf.

lol
sim sim sim and learn to hit throttle hold as fast as possible. That will make crashes alot less painful on the wallet. Still painful yes, but a bit or sometimes alot less painful :quotes

Very nice! I did the same thing, moved from a 450 to this. I haven't gotten to fly mine yet, still building but let us know if you need help. The members in this forum are very friendly and have helped me a ton during my build.

Appreciate it very much guys. I will definitely be re-reading all the set-up threads. I was definitely looking for something a little more visible and stable than my 450. I cant wait to build and fly. Hopefully the weather stays this good for the next couple of weeks, as we have been having a very good winter on the east coast. Servos wont be here till next week, and I still have to order batteries. Will post a few photos here and there as it comes together.

I would be curious to hear your impressions too. I think youa'd be hard pressed to find anyone in this hobby who went 450 to 700!
What are your current flying abilities and have you ever flown anything larger than a 450, even for a minute? If not, it'll be dramatic to say the least.

Never flown anything bigger than a 450. As a matter of fact never seen anyone else fly in person as the closest airfield is about 45 minutes away and between the kids and my job, I wouldnt be able to make it out there too often. I've been flying for about a year and a half now. I prefer big air type flying. Can do all upright orientations comfortably as well as loops, rolls, some inverted. Also was practicing autos for a while but that 450 sure likes to come down fast. Everything I learned was pretty much reading and trial and error. As for the sim, Ive got Realflight, but I think I learned more from actual flight time.

cobera,
that'll do
I'm just curious what a 700 feels like to someone coming from a small heli only experience. I took the traditional path - 450s, 250s, micros, 500, 600, flew a friends 700N and then my own 7HV. Still getting used to it, though it wasn't that big of a leap from 6 to 7. The 7HV just feels more stable, though my 450 FBL feels quite stable compared to my first hovering experience.

I started with a 600 class nitro then back peddled in size with electrics in the early 2000's My first 3s 1000mah lipos where in the $45 range. Battery prices finally have dropped enough that I was able to afford a 600 again last fall. Now I'm drooling over all the 700's!!

Anyone running Scorpion Commander V5 on their 7HV? Was looking at this instead of CC120.

The scorpion v5 esc paired with a scorpion motor is highly desirable. MrMel and Bert Kammerer highly recommend said setup. The scorpion performs very nicely with vBar gov as well.

Just got my Scorpion Commander all the way from Merry Ol' England. Chrome 45C 5000's also came in. Ill finally be able to finish this build. Unfortunately crappy weather this week so it looks like the maiden is out till next week at least.
