The anti-rotation pins would need to be cut down a little so they do not rub on the top of the swash at extreme throws.
Sorry I do not have any pictures of the mod, maybe Charlie can post pics of his.

Got mine finished last night and test flew it today. All I can say is WOW!!!
My Setup:
HFX G-10 Frames
Z Power Z50A-600 w/14 tooth pinion
CC85HV w/UBEC 6volt
15s A123 batteries
I am not sure what the headspeed is but I first tried it with the 16 tooth pinion and it scared me. I switched to the 14 tooth and it still sounds alot faster than stock 6s w/11t pinion.
he dfrazier,
do you have some pics of your bird, as I'm planning to go on 15s a123 cells with the HFX frame very soon.
kind regards remie

Just finished my frame build - very nice design guys :noteworthy
Just two little probs WRT hardware - didn't spot that the yellow press in nuts only go in one side of the frame (yeah I know that's how it is in the photo with the retrospectoscope but maybe a little warning in the text would save  ) Also the ball links on the end of the servo arms - did you intend to use self tappers epoxied into the CF like on the stock cranks or use threaded ball links in which case an extra 3 M2 nuts would have been welcomed - I chose the latter so have had to order some !
There's many things to like but I particularly like the way the servo arm movement is protected from the canopy by the servo bridges :)
I built this up from my spares box  rather than raiding one of the other 3 - only bits I couldn't some up with are the frame spacer and the collared bolts for the main shaft gear wheel - would be nice if ALign included that in the gear or mast set as they do for the masthead.
If anyone is interested I'm selling My HFX T Rex 600 , just 2 flights on the frames and everything is like new.Need the funds for other projects heli flies awesome.
See the classifieds for more info and pics.

Those who can't fly photograph. Guess thats why I'm a hockey announcer and not playing in the NHL too :)
We can get some better pictures next time if you can stay put for more than .3 sec :glasses2:

Hello,
How much elevator pitch do you get? I can get 8 degrees but I have to set the collective pitch to only 9,5 degrees to prevent binding. Otherwise elevator servo arm hits antirotation bracket at full positive pitch. Aileron pitch is not a problem. When I set +/-11 degrees of collective, I can get about 6-7 degrees of elevator which feels quite slow in the air.
How could I get 8 degrees of elevator and 11-13 degrees of collective? I am using JR DS8231 -servos.

Ville Erkkilä

HAHAHA Good one, but give yourwelf some well deserved credit. You help a lot of people and share a lot with people. It is not all about what we can do for ourselves, but it is all about what we can do for others. You Rule Barracuda!!
You gotta be a FAST camera to keep up with Bobby!!:noteworthy

You should be able to do this, I had to play around with the length of the links originally when I had the other version. The antitotation bracket was added to help with lost travel. You may need to cut down the top of the washout base if you want to get more pitch range. I didnt do this to mine, Charlie I believe has and could post some pics to help.

Hi,
I have made the washout "mod" so I can get about +/-14 degrees if I want. The collective range isn't a problem. It's the elevator servo arm range. When all three servos are up at full positive pitch, there isn't much room for elev servo movement when forward elevator is applied.

Call it a warning, if you are giving the collective 14 degrees of pitch, it can't handle another 8 degrees of cyclic at the same time.

Ok, but it would be nice to get 8 degrees of cyclic and about 10 degrees of pitch at the same time. Wouldn't that sound reasonable? Anyway, I think I just move on and fly this heli more.
EDIT: just got back from flying. I am using Neu 1515/2.5D/F/H so I have plenty of power available. With +/-11 the "pop" is much better compared to my old Align 600L. I felt my elevator wasn't strong enough so I reduced pitch AFR to get more powerful elevator. Now the cyclic is what I am used to but the "pop" is closer to my older motor. Of course Neu doesn't bog so badly.

2nd maiden flight of the 8S HFX today - what a star - bit scary for me the response rate and power - not going too bad when lost the tail - hit hold and sort of steered it down - tail wiped out - CF boom in 3 parts - TT like a ? - but gyro dangling unharmed in the breeze on the end of its cable having come off the CF gyro mount.
Had some concerns about the stickiness of the CF frames which are very shiny and had actually cleaned the surface with solvent get rid of any release agent - however the Futaba gyro tape had peeled right off and the 6A regulator had also come adrift (3M tape) held in place only by a cable tie and the wires.
Pretty damn sure the tail loss caused by the gyro coming adrift so be mega cautions about securing vital organs to the HFX frames with adhesive tape :(
ANyway she's rebuilt tonight and will fly phoenix like again tomorrow !!

About elevator... I got it sorted out. I just filed some material off the antirotation guide. Now I can get +/-12 degrees of pitch and 8 degrees of cyclic at the same time. Perfect!

See those slits in the plate that you mounted the gyro? Those are for strapping it with a velcro strap, I highly recommend you do that so this doesn't happen again.

Aagh - good tip - thanks ! Thought the slits were there to reduce air resistance on freefall :o

2 days ago, I received my silver c/f frame from Charley within a week from order. Thanks Charley for fast shipment!
Needed two evenings to swap the parts and the electronics from the standard Align c/f frame.
Build was quite easy and parts matched perfectly. I must admit, I love this frame, so many nice details!
I didn't have time for fine tuning the head (pitch, blade tracking etc.) but if it's not going to rain again this afternoon, it's maiden will be today or tomorrow.
My setup is: 2x5s FP3700 Evo25, Neu1515/2Y/F, Jazz 55-10-32, GY-611/9256, 3x9255, 3A Align BEC, CSM Cyclock, TT, Kasama tail, Radix blades.
I will post some pics tomorrow. Here are some older ones: http://air.esx.ch/index.php?section=gallery&cid=10

Very nice looking machine, including the FREAK sticker!! :noteworthy NICE!!
Looks like a solid and extremely HOT setup!! No flybar is very interesting, especially with the potent power setup you are running.
Does the heatsink on the Jazz make it run cooler? Very clean install and nice looking copter. I am thinking of a Orbit on 10s with a Jazz in an HFX on 10s 3300 EVO 25. How do you like the 10s overall Laszlo without the flybar.

Hi Will,
thanks for the comments. Umm, you must be missing something, I still got the flybar. Although I got Cyclock and it helps alot. It's indeed a very hot setup and I'm very satisfied. Next step will be flybar less TRex600 and a very new project. E-Revo 12s -> it's gonna a beast!

Ahhh, I did see your flybar in the photo, but then I read cyclock and figured you have gone flybarless. Whoops.
Nice heli anyway. :)
