Default Quick question about the tail

I put the tail assy together with the airframe and have a question.
Maybe because all is brand new but when I spin the head by hand it feels a lot rougher compared to my Align bird.
(Head spins smooth without tail.)
The umbrella gears on the back and front of the tube I think is the problem.
Backlash is tight on the back and can't be adjusted, it's just not super smooth.

Is this normal for the X5?
I sure hope it doesn't give vibs the BeastX doesn't like.
Will it be more smooth after a few flights?

Thx.

They will wear in after a couple of flights. Also I put some Triflo silicone lube on all of the TT gears including the autorotation gear. Makes the whole setup quiet and smooth. My rotor will spin down for seemingly ever. Just be sure the mesh up front is good and fly the crap out of it.

The silicone is a good idea, have a spray canister somewhere around here.
After that:

Don't use the spray kind, it has petroleum distillates in it that can break down the plastics.

Something similar I use for my thrust bearings.
I guess it's better compared to the silicone spray.

I'll use a tiny bit of that, you don't want to attract dirt to the gears.

Thrust bearing grease will work fine. As long as it is silicone and not petroleum.

I may be completely wrong on this one so if I am can whoever knows correct me please.
I was told back when I first began RC Heli's not to use any lube accept for silicone on the open gears due to dirt sticking to anything with grease or oil and that silicone lube would in fact cause it to almost repel dirt and debris.
Is this correct or am I doing wrong?
I do use Triflow on thrust bearings and such just not open gear box's or gears

Well the dirt is a possibility yes, no the manuals I have seen don't call for it, but I have seen several pro pilots recommend it and it certainly makes a noticeable difference in the noise and smoothness of the tail drive train.

There is probably no right or wrong answer. But I lube mine.

dirt will attract to just about any lube..unless it is the dry kind (graphite, dry wax...though even those will see some kind of dirt attraction, I have commonly seen this when using dry chain lube on my dirt bikes).

I use tri flow clear sythetic grease on all bevel gears on my X5 and also take off from a clean landing pad. Don't really get any dirt issues with the gears, though It all depends on the take-off environment. Stear clear of dry soil.

I would never use grease on open gears in my off road truggy for the reason you described ...DIRT.

i have Triflow grease on all my bearing and gears. It keep everything very smooth.
I wouldnt recommend it if you live in the desert (like AZ) because of the sand.
