View Full Version : Head speed set up for Goblin

I'm starting to programme my VBar for my Goblin and I'm trying to work out what to set the governor values to in order to correspond with desired head speeds.
I'll be using 12S batteries and a Scorpion 130 ESC.
Let's say I use the stock 22T pinion which gives me a gear ratio of . What percentage do I use to get:
Idle 1 - 1800
Idel 2 - 1900
Idle 3 - 2100

You'll have to set a max head-speed in Gov 2 tab ( and ratio and pole count / 2).
Than you simple set your throttle value to let's say 100% and just switch to on without main pack. If everything is set-up right target head-speed should increase up to your max head-speed. Than just lower this value.
One thing you could do for example is to calculate your max head-speed under load or you just take your IDLE 3 with 2100rpm as your max head-speed which would be 100%.

Ahh, that simple eh?
That does lead to another question though. If 2100 is set as max speed, what does this correlate to in terms of what the ESC is outputting. Based on Mr Mel's head speed calculator max head speed is around 2500 rpm for the Goblin with a 22T pinion.
So, 2000 rpm would be 80% throttle which seems like a max number for most ESC governors.

Don't even try to think about it that way. VBar will outputs a warning in its log as soon as you hit 100% on your Esc.
I mainly use Jive in Mr Mels calc and take the 60% value as reference for my favorit headspeed. With external gov in his calc I a for + performance.
