I know the larger AirThunder batteries fit in a Trex, but has anyone tried to pack one into a mini Titan? If so, any mods needed???

Thanks,
Don

I have tried them and they are to big. You could trim off some of the canopy and it is probably worth it ! Do you know of any other canopy that would fit the MT?

Celter,

What area needs trimming? Above the motor? In the nose? I don't know of anyone that make a canopy for the mini T.

Thanks,
Don

You would need to trim above the motor. Cut away the part of the canopy behind the carbon part.

That's very strange, i received my Air Thunder 2200 lipo's today and they do fit my Mini-T without modifications !

Interesting. Do you place them as far forward as possible? I have to recheck this. I was planning on using my Airthunder batteries in my Dragonus where they fit perfectly.

I just got my batteries yesterday and they fit fine. I have my adjustable holder on the 3rd from the bottom slot. This is the same location I used with my other batteries.

Yep Don,

Same over here ! Have you tried them yet ? Let us know your findings !

I had a chance yesterday to fly my DN Power 20C battery first for the usual 6 minutes. Then I tried the Air Power battery. Power was great, but what was even greater was that I flew it for 8 minutes and the power didn't drop off much. I only landed it to see how much was discharged after 8 minutes. I was around 20%.

Hey all, I was wondering what kind of flight times you guys are getting with the AirThunder batt's?

Thanks, Noah

Hey all, another Quick qeustion?

The air thunder 2200mah 3s packs Dimensions are: 30 x 37 x 113mm

Which dimention is the one that makes this pack a tight fit?

I recently purchased a hxt 4s pack that measures 32 x 34 x 101mm
It is only larger in one dimension so I am really hoping it will fit right in also.

Thanks again, Noah

Received my first airthunder pack today.
The weather is so bad i can't try it, raining all week :(
Maybe coming weekend.
The packaging was great btw, very smart!!

I think the height of the pack combined with the length is a bit of a tight fit in the mini titan.
But it fits under the canopy just fine, I don't use the plastic support thing instead i use sticky foam on the battery-tray and better (postal) rubber-bands.
It's a bit heavier than my other packs, but i can actually use the extra weight for a better COG.
I'm very anxious how it performs, at least i'll have no worries about low voltage damage :)

It performs excellent!
At least With my level of flying it doesn't make any difference in performance when i compare it e.g. with my FP 25C Evo packs.
I do some basic hovering, circuits, fast climbs etc.
Very nice constant high head-speed, good pop.
Temperature after flight is OK too.
Looks like a good purchase, i'm happy :D .

@EricW

What's your set-up and flight times with the Airthunder lipo ?

Hi Dirk,

Stock Ace motor and ESC.
13T pinion.
TT carbon blades.
Fly without governormode now, Idle1 throttle curve:100-90-90-90-100
I still use the light cutoff function(safety for my other lipo's)
Get 7 minutes with it and landed before cutoff.
Had to put back +- 1750 Ma
If i go further and use the cutoff or drain it till it slows down i think i can get at least a extra minute of flight.
I also had a 15C "no brand" lipo but don't use it anymore, this one caused all kind of problems.
I now only use 25C lipo's and have no problems.
Except with the tracking of the carbon blades in the stock head, like many others :? ,metal head is my next upgrade i guess.

Eric,
Here: http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?t=42464
this guy used trex v2 aluminum mixing arms and the TT al washout base and claims his tracking trouble are a thing of the past.

Hi Eric,

That's about the flight time i get with my Airthunder lipo. And just like you i have also problems with the tracking of the blades. The thing i will try it to replace the mixing arms by metal ones. I think the they are very weak and therefor bend very easily.

So if that will not help then i'll change to metal blade holders and the metal head !

Dirk

Yeah,
Also read about the T-rex mixing arms, seems the best choice for now.
The TT alu mixing arms are very hard to find, there all out of stock.
looks like they underestimated the salesnumbers at TT :)
Really like the Kasama head design too, just wish he would speed up the design/production proces a little ;)
I first try something else btw.
yesterday i found that the all-treathed blade bolts make uneven imprints in the bronze blade bushings.
I'll first try to replace them by M3 shoulderbolts and see if it makes a difference.

Eric.

Alien RC has all aluminum parts in stock and ship to US.
They have a great deal on a complete AL head. I think $130-$140

Thanks for the link noguy,

I flew it today and the tracking was OK :).
Just replaced the original M3x20 all-thread bolts with M3x30 shoulderbolts (are they called shoulder bolts??) and cut off the extend thread, about 15 mm.
Now when the blades are forced outside they rest against the unthreaded steel of the bolt (bigger contact surface).
I also replaced the single plastic washer wit a bend strip (creditcard) with two 3mm holes, same effect as the new gripwashers by TT
Maybe it was a lucky guess or the bad tracking returns tomorrow.
But today it worked :)
Hope i found a permanent fix, and have time to save for the upgrades.

Now another strange thing happened.
When i used The airthunder battery the headspeed was pulsing.
When i tried a FP the headspeed was steady again??
I really think the ESC has a problem, tried all settings now and still it acts weird sometimes, had this from the beginning, any suggestions??.

Thanks
Eric

Don't think I'm trying to be a smarta$$, but was your battery fully charged? :)

LOL :DOH

You got me...
yesterday evening i used the pack trying to adjust my tracking.
My neighbour was there and some friends...emptied a bottle of strong stuff together which was nice, fell asleep and forgot to charge the pack.
:Fan

Great suggestion Btw.. :D

@Laurens if he reads this:
You see it happens to me too...lol
