:arggg: I am a high school student, so money is unfortunately a problem. i have been wanting to get into rc helis for a long time. I got Real Flight G3 a while back and want a real heli even more now. so, I got to thinking it might not be to bad to get a blade cp or cpp, just to get me going a little, then work towards getting good gear for a raptor 50 and/or a t-rex 450 down the road. i have also looked at the t-rex starter kits for around $700, but many people say it takes around $1500-$2000 to get a trex going.

So, are the starter kits a waste? If i had to get a blade for my first heli, the blade cp pro would be best right? is this route a total waste of time and money?

I realize getting a blade would cost more in the long run, but it would be really nice to get some flight time on a "real" rc heli, and some people seam to have a lot of success with their blades.

I would say, take the time and save your money and do it right. Wait and get the Trex.

You can save some money in setting up a Trex, like using an HS-81 for the tail to start. Getting DN Power or United Hobby Hextronic packs. Get an SE instead of a V2.

But with either heli, buying it is only the start, you have to be able to afford repair parts.
