I started to build my eraptor620se following Finless videos and apon trying to take the 8 balls off the swash to check for loctite..1 screw broke and is stuck in the swash( guess it had loctite)...Going to be a nightmare to try and remove it.
My question is do I really need that 1 ball? All that gets conencted (lower swash) is 3 and the one in the back is not used? So is there any reason to worry about the one broken ball and screw?
Thanks for the help.

It's not used so don't worry about it.

Thanks...BTW it wa sthe first ball I was tryign t oget off...Guess what? I am not tryign the others...If anotehr breaks I dont think I can get the broken screw out easily..The bit would have to be tiny to try and drill out and probably would ahve to buy a new swash. Then again I just ordered a 140 swash :D

I didn't take them out of my swash either. They were tight as hell so I left them in. I check every ball and link before each flight. ALWAYS pre-flight check your heli. Don't forget the tail.

The 140 swash is well worth paying the extra for, it made a real improvement on my E550.

I agree 140 is the best setup for this heli BUT.... if you have a DX7 DONT go buy it as that radio doesnt do 140 unless you setup a mix which in my opinion sucks...

Finless,
I have a DX7 and read on a few threads that it is very easy to setup the mix for 140 with the dx7. I have not done it yet but just reading alot of people stated it was very easy.

I found it pretty easy and it works well with no interaction.

Hi Bob,
Do you think Spectrum will come out with a software update to allow the use of a 140 swash the right way?

Steve,
Can you post exactly the steps to setup the radio and how you adjusted the mix until you got no interactions?
Thanks for the help

I just installed the 140 on my e620. I had read the threads about how to do it before, but i did not have them in front of me, but I decided to make a try at it.
Basically i pciked a mix (mix 1 for me) mixed elev-> pitch. Then while moving the elevator channel adjusted the rate until the swash plate moved up and down the least - i ended up at down elevator 26% and up elevator 23%. The swash plate moves very little (2 thousands?) at pitch mid stick, a bit more interaction at the top and bottom.
I havent flown it yet - and I may go back now and re-read those articles, but as far as I can tell, it was real easy to set up.
*edit - just re-read the articles, I got it right :)

Spiked,
Let me know how you find it compares to the 90 setup...I am just finishing my build and will fly the 90 setup first then swap it out to compare but just curious what you find.
Thanks..

Spiked has just about covered it, there was a little trial and error to make sure there wasn't any interaction but it was easy enough.
I was a bit annoyed at how easy it was because I have a JR PCM9X transmitter, 9303 in the US, and it didn't have an option for 140 swash so I sent it away to be upgraded to PCM9XII spec. which does, cost me £50/$100. Of course, shortly after spending out JR announced a new 9303 2.4ghz model :arggg:

I'll let you know how it goes, but I made a big change at the same time, so it won't be just the swashplate. I am switching from the TT metal head and Mavick blades to a kasama and v-blades. I'm not an advanced 3D flyer, but I do like to hover inverted. The stock setup I have always seems to roll to the right and I'm blaming it on slop. I'm at a point where I dont need help messing up, so I want things to be as accurate as possible.
Besides, after about 6 helicopters in 30 years (yes, Ive been on and off that long) I finally decided to bling one out (or in reality I can finally afford to :P ).
Also, Steve, I went from an 8103 to the DX7 mostly as a hold out until the 2.4g 9303 came out - i'll let you know how it is :) It was cheap enough ($140 ish) for the DX7 transmitter and I think (hope) I can keep all the dx7 receivers when I get the new JR.

All the Spektrum receivers should work with the 2.4ghz 9303 except maybe the 6000, I know this won't work with the modules but should be okay with a native 2.4ghz setup.

Well I installed the 140 swash and setup a mix...Was a piece of cake...also turned out about the same settings as you spiked. Down elevator 27 up 17 mix...might go slightly higher on down buts looks real good.

Very interesting.
Does the JR 9303 supports 140 swash in native mode ? (I mean without mix)

I believe it does... RCHeli mag just did a recent story on it and I'm almost 100% certain it does support 140°.
