Hi Guys... wondering about these RevLocks...whats the differance between these and the "Stator Gator/GV1 Combo" do they do any thing different and or better...? Is it just price$...?
Also do you still have to run the Stator Gator...? Sorry still very much a newbie!
Thanks

Yes, You can run the Stator Gator and that's the beauty of it. I will be testing one of the RevLock units in my Spectra-G starting in the next few days. I will keep you posted.
As I understand it, the RevLock is a RPM limiter and the GV-1 is a governor (RPM feedback controller). The RevLock should work better because the gas motor does not need governing but does need occasional help in controlling over speed. The GV-1 I have been using for years now works good on the gasser but falls short when dealing with a condition that leads to overspeed. The motor also seems to run stronger off of the governor, so the RevLock should be the ticket!

Thanks John... if both the RevLock and the GV1 both control the max RPM by use of the carb and its delivery of fuel, I don't see how one could be better, as long as both are effective in being able to control the throttle servo fast enough...? If by controlling the delivery of fuel the motor continues to rev would that not be more of a inertia problem that would only be resolved by some sort of an engine break hmmm...?
I will be very interested in your test results...Just so you know it was me that called you the other night from Van. BC. with all the Spec G and motor questions, thanks agian you were a big help...my Spec G FAI and TRM231 are on the way...! I also got in touch with my local MA Rep Kevin Forsyth...he has offered to help out with the build/setup...
Cheers all

John, any feedback on the revlock? My Spectra is scheduled for delivery Tuesday and I am looking to purchase a gov or limiter.
I have a revlock installed on a Raptor and I like it, just wondering about your experience on the Spectra.

I just got it in the mail this evening and will be installing it ASAP! Looking forward in seeing what it can do. Bill Meader has told me some nice things about it and I am intrigued. He told me that it will control one situation in particular and if it does that, I want stock in CSM!
Later.

Rev lock is a true gov...not just a limiter..Does great with just a average speed servo...Beats the GV-1 bigtime in my book..

Ok...now we have one saying its a governer and one saying its a limiter...but still no explaination of how its works and or why one is better than the other...? What does it do better than the GV1 and how/why...? Starting to sound like a ford/chevy battle...? Sure chevy parts are cheaper but Ford is still "First On Race Day"!!!
How and Why Guy's
Thanks

Well, its better than the Gv1 because it actually pulls the throttle back where the gv1 just lets the machine rev, is all i know to tell you...Just that fact alone sells me...
How it works? It uses the statorgator to get its signal, and the small liitle controller( the size of a pack of folded matchs) uses lights to tell you what mode, and speed settings you have... Once one gets use to the setup, you'll find its just as easy to operate as the GV1... It will be interesting to see how john G. does with it, because I don't use light blades, with the lower ratios... All I can say is with my setup, the unit performs better than anything I've used to date...John Kos can probally tell you more, because he got the ball rolling on this project... john.kos@kosaudio.com
Why? Probally the main reason its better, is because it actually does keep better control on overeving, which is the main point of concern for most gasser pilots.

Thanks Bill...the one thing you said about the GV1 just letting the engine rev and not closing the throttle is something i will definitely look into, interesting! I've been very happy with the GV1 on my glow machine, mind you i've only had time to run a gallon or so since putting it on! Bigrcr if your still following this thread I hope you will let us know soon how you like your RevLock!
Thanks again!

It would be nice if CSM put it in a case like the GV1 or TJ...

I will most definitely report all findings, looking forward to it.
BTW- I never said that the RevLock was a rev limiter and not a governor, but that my understanding was that it was one. I was wrong. :arggg:

Sorry John didn't mean to mis quote you...just trying to dig up some facts
Went over to RR and looked at the posts, there's quite the debate going on!
