you can't go brushless on a v2, it's very hard to handle with the vibrations. it's not impossible though to run without any mods you can go with a c05

Back to the original question: Of the two setups, the Oversky 10A/C05M Combo is by far easier to setup. I run it in the PNP variant (no soldering required) as bought by Astroid Designs. I can only recommend buying there, since Dylan from Astroid Design glues the pinion on the motor shaft, and solders a plug onto the motor leads so that it can be directly plugged into the ESC. The C05M is also a great apartment/living room setup.

My exact recommended configuration:
Oversky 10A + C05M 8t + stock tail motor with solid carbon 2mm boom 140mm long + MH solid titanium main shaft + MH aluminum swash plate + Hyperion 550 reasoning: Oversky 10A: integrated converter, can be later upgraded to stronger motor C05M 8t: good first brushless setup, can be used with original main frame solid carbon 2mm boom/140mm: better crash resistance MH solid titanium main shaft: no more splintering and vibrations MH aluminum swash plate: less slop, less wobbling Hyperion 550: 8mins of non-3D living room flying

Hey
Well I will be finding out since I just ordered a 10A/C05M Combo for my V2.
With the PNP combo is there any programming needed? Thanks

No programming is needed. The only thing you have to do is to remove the vertical struts and the side walls of the main frame that hold the motor.

Thanks
Thanks . I have a Microheli frame so no worries there. I've seen some recommend to remove the motor plug and solder directly to the board, any comments? Also the single wire that plugs into the main motor plug on the board can be soldered to the board right? How does that effect throttle?
I ordered form Hawk RC so I think I have to put the pinion on myself, any advise ? I'm excited to try it out. Thanks

http://www.rchelicanada.com/blade-/-...prod_1367.html It shipped within a couple of hours after I ordered it. I expect it to sit in customs for a day or two, but it should be quicker than waiting for customs from China, plus the "slow boat"..... Normally I order everything I can from Dylan, but I'm in a hurry to get this project up and running....

I use the Microheli frame with 3 bearings (MH-MCPX005B). I exchanged the delrin 2mm tail mount which wears out too fast for the Rakonheli aluminum tail mount together with Dylan's (Astroid Designs) RKH/MH Carbon tail boom mount adapters. (This was before MH offered the aluminum tail mount, which is out of stock anyway.)

Oversky 10A/C05M Combo
I totally agree that the Oversky 10A/C05M Combo is easier to setup. I have no vibration issues. I just upgraded my V2 this weekend, and it flies like a dream compared to stock.
Dylan from Astroid Design is really nice and helpful. He glued the pinion on the motor shaft, and soldered the plug onto the motor leads. It took me 30 minutes to install, and I not very experienced. I would also buy the lower frame brace as it really provides the support to the stock frame after you make the adjustments to fit the motor. I'm looking at going with 6mm duals so I can run close 100% pitch. |

10 Amp will not be much power to the C05M ? how much to extend the boom to work well?

Since the current that runs the main motor now comes from the ESC and not the 3-1, the 3-1 has more power available to run the tail motor, as it no longer has to drive the main motor. This helps give the tail more power. A lot of guys run the C05m with a stock tail and V2(3) tail rotor blade. Other guys do extend the boom, using a 140mm boom length. If you stick with the stock frame, you might want to think about using solid 2mm CF rod when you extend the boom. It's quite a bit stronger than stock. Run the wires around the outside of the boom. After shattering my stock tail, I've been running a solid 2mm tail, and it's *much* stronger. Haven't broken it yet, and it's survived several crashes that most likely would have destroyed the stock tail boom. You might also want to upgrade the tail wires. A lot of guys (me included, for now) use individual wires pulled from a cat5 (ethernet computer network cable). If that's not an option, go for some good quality 28 gauge multi strand wire. |

+1 for walkera 10A ESC.
I am using the walkera 10a ESC on the V2 as well, with M5 motor. Works very well. The only complain is spool up the motor is not as smooth as the Aeo converter + Overskey ESC. It works perfectly after spool up. Seems more powerful than the Overskey XP-7a. |
