Has anyone tried modifying the throttle stick to remove the bumps?

Yup. There's 4 screws on the back of the controller. Remove those, and you'll see a small piece of bent metal that rubs against the throttle stick. Either loosen or remove completely the screw and voila, no more throttle "bumps".

Hope this helps,
Cass

I turned the metal strip over. That smooths out the throttle and still leaves a little resistance.

Same here, flip it over so you won't lose it later if you need it...

Thanks for the tip Bob. Did mine this morning and like it a lot better.

Is the G2 controller setup the same way? If so I will do it to.
